Swallows 17/10 to sink Sea Robbers

Moroka Swallows vs Orlando Pirates, Telkom KO, Sat 5th Nov, 20:15, Dobsonville Stadium
Two Soweto giants, Orlando Pirates and Moroka Swallows, will face each other in the quarter-finals of the Telkom Knockout this weekend. The in-form Moroka Swallows, who beat Mamelodi Sundowns 3-0 in the last 16, host a Pirates side that beat Black Leopards 2-1 to proceed to the quarter-finals.These teams met in the PSL earlier this week, playing out to a 1-1 draw.

Juve 18/10 to remain on top

Napoli vs Juventus, Serie A, Sunday 6th November, 21:45, Stadio San Paolo

The Italian Serie A is starting to hot up as things are tight at the top of the table. All top 6 teams are within touching distance of each other and this clash promises to be fiercely contested. Having won the Derby d'Italia against Inter over the weekend, Juventus are rightfully favourites for this one. Both these teams are playing some exceptional football thus far and have stated their intent from the get-go.

English Premier League preview

After last weekend’s goal glut I couldn’t be more excited to see what the English Premier League has in store for us this weekend. The start of November will see a change of balls, with the yellow ball coming into play. Don’t expect too much else to change though, as Man City continue to score at will and Petr Cech continues his best Hadeda impression and flap at anything that comes near him. Sir Alex made it 25 years in charge this week, so congratulations on that. Can you please just bugger off now?! Intro over, let’s get into some football.

City 11/20 to sink Yellow Submarine

Villarreal vs Man City, UEFA Champions League, Wednesday 2nd Movember, El Madrigal

The Yellow submarine is slowly sinking. Having endured severe casualties to a number of their personnel and a dreadful start to the season, they will attempt to pull off one of the most unlikely results in Champions League history when they host a rampant Man City on Wednesday evening. Things have become so desperate that they have lowered their ticket prices to a measly €8 for this match. Can Juan Carlos Garrido mastermind one of the great shocks of recent history and defeat Man City and their millions?

Mahan 25/1 to conquer China

WGC HSBC Champions, Co-Sanctioned, 3 - 6 November, Shanghai
The WGC HSBC Champions tees off this weekend and will once again set out to showcase China as one of golf’s emerging superpowers. The field is incredible and includes all four Major Champions and 20 different nationalities. All will be competing for a share of the US$ 7 million prize fund. Interestingly, Luke Donald withdrew this week and should Rory McIlroy, Charl Schwartzel, Martin Kaymer or Lee Westwood win this weekend the 800 000 Euro first prize will go a long way in assisting them chip away at his significant lead. The question is, can one of these players win? Let’s try and find out.

Dortmund 9/20 to exact revenge

B. Dortmund vs Olympiakos, UEFA Champions League, Tues 1st November 2011, BVB Stadium

Things haven’t exactly gone to plan for the German champions in this year’s competition. Having opened with a draw against Arsenal, they went on to suffer consecutive defeats, conceding six goals in the process. That poor start has left them with an uphill task to qualify from Group F. They were humbled 3-1 at the hands of Tuesday’s opponents, Olypiakos, in their last fixture and coach Jurgen Klopp will be looking for a much improved performance at home, if they are to claw their way back into contention.

Arsenal 7/10 to seal top spot

Arsenal vs Marseille, UEFA Champions League, Tuesday 1st November, Emirates Stadium

The Champions League returns this week. Cue over dramatised music and below average officiating, and of course football from some of the “biggest” names in European football. I’m sorry if I fail to wait until the now 10pm (thanks daylight savings) kick-off to watch Trabzonspor face CSKA Moscow. One match that has tickled my fancy from Tuesday nights action is Arsenal against Olympic Marseille in what has the makings of an entertaining match.
