Dortmund 47/10 out to prove Bayern are beatable

Bayern Munich vs Borussia Dortmund, Bundesliga, Sat 19th Nov, 20:30, Allianz Arena

It’s the biggest clash of the year in Germany this weekend. The reigning champions versus the league leaders. The most successful club in German history versus the most supported team. The only fixture that can match this one for intensity is the return fixture at the BVB Stadium in Dortmund. Bayern have been quite sublime this term and Dortmund will have to be at their best to stop the Bavarians from extending their 5 point lead at the top.

English Premier League Preview

What a week it has been in the world of football. Yes, everyone (me included) was bored to tears from the international football that was played over the weekend and the week passed by unnoticed, until Sepp Blatter decided to open his rotter. His comments on racism have drawn widespread condemnation, from this writer included. It was amazing to see that in this day and age, a man that is meant to be leading football throughout the world can be so naive and completely out of touch with a very real issue. Like a serial arsonist, he is constantly starting fires that FIFA have to put out and I feel the time has come for an overhaul at the top, so football can once again become “The Beautiful game”. Now, onto the football.

South Africa 16/10 to Triumph at the Bullring

South Africa v Australia, 2nd Test Match, 17-21 November 2011, 10:00, Wanderers
If anyone who watched the first test between these two nations is still on the fence about the excitement of test cricket, well here is truly a case where limited-overs enthusiasts need to put a sock in it. The last test match had it all, a characteristically gritty captain’s knock of 151 by Michael Clarke on a wicket that was doing more than its fair share on the first day. In essence, probably the best innings of the recent Australian captain’s career. South Africa collapsed to 90 in their first innings, succumbing to a fantastic bowling display led by Watson and Harris.

The Presidents Cup 2011

The Presidents Cup, 17 November- 20 November, Royal Melbourne Golf Club

This weekend the Internationals will take on Team USA in the Presidents Cup, a Ryder Cup style tournament which will be hosted in Australia. Since the tournaments inception in 1994 the Internationals have only managed victory over Team USA once and will be looking to secure their second victory at the Royal Melbourne Golf Club. Their confidence will be up after the international domination of the final round of the Australian Open last weekend but they come up against a strong USA team, captained by the charismatic veteran Fred Couples. Do Greg Normans men have what it takes to take the title this year? Let’s analyse……

Rock 18/1 to Lap it Up at Leopard Creek

Alfred Dunhill Championship, European Tour, 17-20 November, Leopards Creek

A strong South African presence will be felt this weekend at Leopards Creek when the field tee off on Thursday. The unique course layout boasts beautiful scenery and the inclusion of wildlife make for interesting TV viewing. A majority of previous winners here have had great driving accuracy off the tee so high averages in landing on the fairway will be a point of focus for me this weekend, as will course form. Local knowledge and the ensuing home ground advantage are also points to examine.
