English Premier League Preview

As we head into the crazed Christmas period, a number of teams and managers will be feeling the heat after poor starts to their campaigns. None more so than Chelsea, and their flamboyant young Portuguese coach, who has come under fire after suffering 3 losses in their last 4 league matches. With the notoriously trigger-happy Russian at the helm, the doubter’s voices will only get stronger should they fail to beat Wolves this weekend. Well that’s enough about the Blues for now, let us get into the rest of the football.

Liverpool 37/20 to End City Streak

Liverpool v Manchester City, Premier League, Sunday 27th November, Anfield , 18:00

The English Premiership is really spoiling football fans as it brings us another top of the table clash. Most fans are still recovering from last weekend’s mouth watering clashes, and now they are served another cracker with Liverpool taking on Man City. Although Man City enter this game on the back of a defeat to Napoli in the Champions League this past midweek, they have been phenomenal in the Premier League season. Will Liverpool be able to end their unbeaten run?

Arrows 22/10 to Sink the Buccaneers

Golden Arrows v Orlando Pirates, Telkom Knockout, Saturday 26th November, 20:15

Orlando Pirates will travel to KwaZulu Natal to face Golden Arrows in the semi-finals of the Telkom Knockout Cup. The game will be played at the majestic Moses Mabhida Stadium in front of a capacity crowd. Can the Bucs improve on their poor current PSL form, and show the moves that achieved them three trophies last season? Or will Arrows obtain another scalp on what has been a memorable season?

Coetzee 12/1 to conquer Serengeti Golf Club

SA Open, European PGA, 25 - 27 November, Serengeti Golf Club

Another event tees off in South Africa this weekend as players prepare to take on the Serengeti Golf Club. The field looks rather similar to that which competed in the Alfred Dunhill last weekend, with a few notable additions coming in the form of defending champion Ernie Els and Retief Goosen. Also of note is the addition of Simon Dyson. Despite their addition the struggling combination of Ernie and Retief make little appeal to me but there is value to be had in a few of the other Saffa’s. Let’s see who has some appeal this weekend.

SA 11/2 have their eyes on the World Cup

World Cup of Golf, 25 - 27 November, Mission Hills Haikou

Before the tips begin this unique event requires a quick explanation. The World Cup is a tournament contested by teams of two representing their country. Players are selected on the basis of the Official World Golf Ranking although players may choose not to compete. In previous years the tournament has taken place at Mission Hills Golf Club, but this time around it will shift to Mission Hills Haikou (the Chinese sure are original in their course naming) for the first time. Last year the Italian Molinari brothers lifted the trophy and this year they’ll be keen on a repeat performance. Can they pull it off? Let’s see.

All to play for at the top of Group H

AC Milan vs Barcelona, UEFA Champions League, Wed 23rd Nov, San Siro

It’s a clash of two European heavyweights on Wednesday night when current European Champions travel to Italy to face 7 times champions AC Milan. Both teams have already qualified from Group H but there is still plenty to play for, with AC Milan needing a victory to leapfrog Barcelona into top spot. Milan managed a 2-2 draw at the Camp Nou in the reverse fixture, thanks to an early Pato goal and an injury-time Thiago Silva header, and will be hoping to go one better here.
