English Premier League Preview

The Premier League title race took another twist on Monday evening, as the previously unflappable Man City went down like an intern in the White House to an inspired Chelsea team. Few teams have put City under any real pressure this season, and on Monday, Chelsea did just that and the cracks began to show. A number of teams would’ve taken notice of this, noticeably Arsenal who travel to the Etihad Stadium this weekend. A win for the Gunners would blow the whole title race wide open, and I’m sure a certain manager across town will be meticulously noting everything down. Onto the matters at hand then.

Sevilla vs Real Madrid, Saturday 17th December, 23:00, Estadio Ramón Sánchez Pizjuán

The mighty Barcelona proved once again why they are the champions of Spain. Barcelona outclassed Real Madrid to move top of the La Liga standings however Mourinho’s men have a game in hand and will face another team who suffered a disappointing defeat over the weekend. Sevilla were beaten 1-0 by Levante who are now 5 points above them in the crucial 4th place Champions League spot.

Sri Lanka 15/2 Praying For Rain

South Africa vs Sri Lanka, 1st Sunfoil Test Match, 15 - 19 December, Centurion

Sri Lanka have never won a test match on South African soil. As extraordinary a statistic as this may be, it looks unlikely that they are about to start now. Sri Lanka have been on an absolutely terrible run of form of late, not even notching up a test match victory all year. In all three of the test series they have played this year they slumped to a 1-0 loss, which seems to indicate that they can draw tests if their batsmen stay in long enough, but are unable to take 20 wickets in a match with the bowling attack they have at their disposal.
