The Vodacom Durban July fever is building at a frantic pace as we edge ever-nearer to the big day on Saturday, and to celebrate this horse racing spectacle we're running a Durban July tipping competition at the very popular sports blog Goodforthegame. It's free to enter and all are welcome to try their hand at being crowned the top tipster of the July meeting! 1st prize = R1000 Betting Voucher plus a Hollywood hamper (hat, t-shirt, cap etc),
Runner up prizes = 5 x R100 betting vouchers for our 2nd to 6th placed punters.
To give the excellent racecard and quality racing that's on show at Greyville the respect it deserves, the competition will run across 5 of the 6 Graded races on the card - starting with the Grade 3 Schweppes 2200m in race 3, and culminating in the the big one itself, race 7 the Vodacom Durban July.
The rules of the competition are kept simple so even the rarest of punters can give it a go. Simply select one horse in each of the races 3 through to race 7 (the July) and say whether you want it as a WIN bet or PLACE bet. We'll allocate a ficticous R200 to each of your selections, and the winner will be adjudged on the final profit shown from your 5 selections and how they fared. As an added bonus for the July itself, all final win/place dividends will be doubled on the big race.
To enter, simply post your selections on the Durban July Tipping Competition thread on the Goodforthegame Discussion Forum. If you're not yet a member of Goodforthegame, simply sign up at the Goodforthegame Register Page - it takes just seconds to register.
Once you are registered you simply add your selections to the Goodforthegame Thread like this:

- Competition closes at 12:30pm on Saturday.
- One entry per person.
- You can change you selections after posting, provided you do so before the above cut-off time. Simply edit your post to change your selections.
- In the event of any selections on scratchings, the selection will be set as a WIN bet on the favourite.
- 4 places will count in the first 4 legs of the competition (races 3 to 6, regardless of any scratchings), and 6 places will applty to the July itself.
- Final prize winners will be posted on the forum.
