Australia retain the Frank Worrell Trophy after a rain-induced draw in Trinidad, despite the best efforts of both teams to make a match of it. During this trophy’s strange history, the changing of hands has served to usher in a new era of test cricket, and although the West Indies are knocking on the door, they are not quite there yet. A win here will give them a draw to the series, mirroring the ODIs and T20s, but do they have what it takes?Friday, 20 April 2012

English Premier League Preview
In all businesses you have good weeks, and you have bad weeks. Last week was a bad week. I may have offset some of my losses with a couple well placed multiples and the odd rugby bet, but it’s fair to say my English Premier League tips were not very profitable. Sunderland really let the team down against Wolves, and Wigan continued to wrong me in so many ways. At least the mighty Reds booked a return to Wembley, but I didn’t really have it in me to back my own team, so I guess I deserved what I got. Nothing. Enough about me, how’s your week been? Well let’s work on improving it with some winning bets.Wednesday, 18 April 2012
Arsenal vs Chelsea Preview
Arsenal vs Chelsea, Saturday 21st April, 13:45, Emirates Stadium
The English Premiership London Derby clash, between Arsenal and Chelsea kicks-off Super Saturday, which ends with the El Clasico between Spanish giants Barcelona and Real Madrid. The Gunners play host to their arch-rivals in what should have been a match of lesser magnitude had the hosts not stumbled badly against relegation-threatened Wigan on Monday night. That has placed added pressure on Arsene Wenger’s men who look to consolidate third position on the table and are currently seven points clear of the visitors, but have played an extra match.

Barcelona vs Real Madrid Preview
Barcelona vs Real Madrid, Saturday 21st April, 20:00, Camp Nou
All eyes will be focused on the biggest match in world football this weekend as Barcelona and Real Madrid face off in the El Clasico. A lot is at stake as this match could decide who wins the La Liga title come end of the season. With Barca just 4 points behind Real Madrid, they have the opportunity to cut down Madrid’s lead to just 1 point while Real have a chance of extending their lead to 7 points, ultimately handing them the title. Apart from the significance of El Clasico, football fans will see the duel for European scoring records between Messi and Ronaldo who sit tied on 41 goals at the top of the La Liga scoring charts, they have also scored 63 and 53 in all competitions respectively.

Valero Texas Open Preview
Valero Texas Open, 19 April- 22 April, 13:00, TPC San Antonio
The historic Valero Texas Open tees off for the 90th time this weekend at TPC San Antonio, the same course it has been played on since its inception. An impressive list of players have won here and scores are generally fairly low, but don’t tell Kevin Na this as last year he was “that golfer” who managed a 12 over par on the 16th. The field pales in comparison to the Masters but we can still expect some top golf. Who has it in them to win this? Let’s see.

Volvo China Open Preview
Volvo China Open, 19 April- 22 April, 05:00, Binhai Lake Golf Club
The Volvo China Open has been played since 1995 but it was only co-sanctioned since 2003. It now draws an impressive field and will tee off for the first time at Binhai this weekend. The par 72 7,667 yard course will be unknown to most players so course form is out the window, rather focus needs to be on those who hit it long as the wide landing area is fairly forgiving. Let’s see who has it in them to claim a share of the prize money.

Chelsea vs Barcelona Semi-Final 1st Leg Preview
Chelsea vs Barcelona, UCL, Wednesday 18th April, 20:45, Stamford Bridge
Fresh off the controversy filled FA Cup semi-final against Spurs, Chelsea prepare for the biggest match of their season, and one that has no shortage of controversy in its recent history. I speak of course about the last time these two met at this stage of the competition, when Chelsea were denied numerous penalties before Andres Iniesta stepped up deep into stoppage time to rifle Barca into another final. Plenty has changed since then, but one thing is for certain, Chelsea aren’t going down without a fight.

Bayern Munich vs Real Madrid SF 1st Leg Preview
Bayern Munich vs Real Madrid, UCL, Tuesday 17th April, 20:45, Allianz Arena
Back in August I hedged my bets for the season, these well thought out wagers spanning the continent of Europe. How Bayern Munich were available at 25/1, knowing full well where the final would be, is quite beyond me. Needless to say I have certain allegiances when “objectively” previewing this semi-final. To my previous bets of course. Okay so let’s find some reasons why Ze Germans are going to win.
