Gavin Lerena
Magic Tips Best Bets

Race 3: DANIELLE(1)
Jockey: Gavin LERENA - Trainer: Romeo FRANCIS

DANIELLE has relocated to Gauteng after six runs in the Cape. She showed some fair form and could be a good acquistion for her new yard. The daughter of Casey Tibbs tries the sand for the first time and is drawn in pole. The engaging of Gavin Lerena suggests that her wily old trainer will have her fit and ready and she could make big improvement here.

Race 4: LA VOLTA(9) - TOP BET
Jockey: Robbie FRADD - Trainer: Michael AZZIE

LA VOLTA has blossomed under the care of the Azzie yard and she showed a decent field of sprinters a clean pair of heels when she kept going well to win a minor feature over this trip on the turf last time. Although the ratings suggest otherwise, there is every chance that she is even better on the sand. She isn't well in on official ratings but she is certainly better than her current sand rating and could still take a power of beating in this line-up.

Gunter Wrogemann
Jockey: G WROGEMANN - Trainer: Mike DE KOCK

The De Kock yard could dominate proceedings here as they send out RIGHT BEAUTY and MERHEE. The former is plagued with issues but has top ability and looks to have a distinct liking for this course. He sprinted very well over the minimum trip last time and should take some beating, despite this being a competitive affair. His stablemate brings good form into this race but also returns from a short rest.

Race 7: FORMATION(2)
Jockey: Gavin LERENA - Trainer: St John GRAY

FORMATION put a disappointing penultimate loss to MAGIC SMOKE behind her when she finished a creditab- le second behind runaway winner Amur Affair on the turf in a feature last time out. Her sand rating shows exactly how superior she is on this surface and although the weight turnover proves otherwise, she could still be a major force from pole position today.

Race 2: BEZA(5) (Each Way)
Jockey: Randall SIMONS - Trainer: Paul MATCHETT

BEZA produced his career best effort when trying the sand last time out. He recovered from a problem at the start and made late progress for fourth over the 1450m on this course. The manner in which he finished suggests that this extra distance will suit him much better and he should have lots more improvement to come from another handy draw.
