Race 2: PARCEVAL(3)
Jockey: Nooresh JUGLALL - Trainer: Tara LAING

This is a small field of just eight runners but there could still be a decent pace on and that will suit the in-form course specialist PARCEVAL. The son of Silvano has won two of his last three starts and was only outrun late over this c & d, last time out. He finished a head in front of HAVASHA that day but is now 4kgs better off with that rival and should easily confirm the form.

Jockey: MJ BYLEVELD - Trainer: Alan GREEFF

SILVERTHORNE is a former Cape inmate that makes her local debut for her new yard. She has shown considerable improvement since being equipped with blinkers and brings with her some decent Cape form. Her career best showing came when she finished runner-up behind subsequent winner Lifes Design over six furlongs, three starts ago. The daughter of Silvano showed speed that day and this drop to the minimum trip should pose little problem for her. She is favourably drawn and could make a winning local debut.

Karis Teetan

CRIMSON FIRE made a fair start to her local career when she made steady progress for fourth in a competitive line-up over seven furlongs, recently. She was returning from a ten week break so will strip much fitter this time around and should relish this rise in distance. The slight concern is how she will handle this tight track but at least she has a midfield draw to help her cause.

Race 9: SHE'S A LADY(1)
Jockey: Aldo DOMEYER - Trainer: Gavin SMITH

SHE'S A LADY has come extremely well in recent outings and she quickened smartly to win going away over a mile at Fairview, four weeks ago. She produced a similar finish when winning her penultimate effort over seven furlongs on this course and is now seeking a quick hat-trick of wins. She may have escaped with only a three pound penalty for that last win and holds strong claims in this field. The only concern is whether she will handle today's extra furlong.

Race 1: KATRUSHKA(8) (Each Way)
Jockey: Wayne AGRELLA - Trainer: Des A MCLACHLAN

A competitive start to proceedings but the former Cape inmates KATRUSHKA and GIBRALTAR EXPRESS could fight this one out. The value though could lie with the former, albeit she is having her 31st career outing. She often employs frontrunning tactics and has shown some fair form. However, the crucial run was when she finished fifth behind Guest El Grande in the Cape over seven furlongs in her penultimate outing. That day she had the latter a length and a half behind her. Admittedly, the latter has much more scope having raced just ten times but she went off as the red-hot favourite on that occasion and was bitterly disappointing. KATRUSHKA has plenty of early speed to overcome her wide draw and this short run-in could play right into her hands.
