Race 3: KASNER(3)
Race 4: DESERT RAT(7)

Magic Tips Best Bets

Jockey: Fanie CHAMBERS - Trainer: Corne SPIES

SCARLET MOON didn't fare too badly when making her Gauteng debut against winners over the Turffontein 1160m, recently. Of course, she made a promising local debut when outrun late behind her stablemate Vee Eight over this c & d, a mere four days, prior to that. She had LA FLAMME one and a half lengths ahead of her on that occasion but was making her debut appearance and would have come on plenty from that outing. The weights still favour the latter but the top rating may be a different proposition with the two starts under her belt and can reverse the form.

Race 2: SHER DIL(4)
Jockey: Sherman BROWN - Trainer: Vernon RUGG

There hasn't been much to choose between SHER DIL and GREY THUNDER but the former jumps from a decent draw and the blinkers are removed today. Those two factors could make all the difference and he has a big chance of exiting the maiden ranks here.

Jockey: Randall SIMONS - Trainer: Clinton BINDA

SOUL SINGER has shown some decent form since relocating to the Highveld and now gets his first crack in Flamingo Park. He was staying on nicely for fourth against stronger over ten furlongs at the Vaal last week. His trainer has a decent record in Kimberley and this son of Jet Master is obviously showing good work on the sand, back home. Interestingly, his Gauteng based jockey has retained the ride and he could take some beating, if handling this surface.

Race 6: SKY MARSHAL(2)
Jockey: Chris TAYLOR - Trainer: Bill HUMAN

SKY MARSHAL has tons of ability but is plagued by issues. He hasn't won for quite some time but has put-up some very useful performances against quality sorts. He finished strongly for second behind topsprinter Sharp Design on the Highveld three starts ago and should be cherry-ripe today. The son of JetMaster makes his local debut for his new yard and drops in class. He deserves his big mass and should take some beating, if handling this surface.

Race 5: POWEROFTHEFLOWER(5) (Each Way)
Jockey: Hennie GREYLING - Trainer: Dorrie SHAM

POWEROFTHEFLOWER continues to blossom in Kimberley and recently notched up his fourth local victory from just six starts when trouncing his opposition over this c & d. Incidentally, he finished runner- up in his other two racecourse appearances. All that said, the son of Albert Hall takes a huge rise inclass today and is 5.5kgs out at the weights on official ratings. However, he is clearly improving with every local start and still seems much better than rated. He could prove equal to the task.
