Race 5: BLAKE(1)

Anton Marcus
Magic Tips Best Bets

Jockey: Anton MARCUS - Trainer: Alyson WRIGHT

MELANCHETE had too much to do from a wide draw at Greyville last time but was still far from disgraced as she stayed on strongly for a close fourth, despite racing wide throughout. She is a different proposition down the staight and only failed by a head in her penultimate outing over this c & d. It isn't surprising that Marcus sticks with the daughter of Black Minnaloushe who has her third run after the layoff today. She should take a power of beating here.

Jockey: Sean VEALE - Trainer: Mike DE KOCK

LORD WINDSOR was expected to make improvement when he tried 1900m for the first time in his latest start. He did just that and possibly even more when he stayed on strongly for second behind his more experienced stable companion Blue Berry. That outing would have brought the son of Silvano on further and he will love today's rise in distance. The longer run-in will suit him very well and he should take a power of beating.

Race 5: SAGE THRONE(3)
Jockey: MJ ODENDAAL - Trainer: Colin SCOTT

SAGE THRONE has had the perfect prep coming into this contest and has his third run after the layoff. He is ideally c & d suited and could make his fitness tell.

Karl Neisius
Race 7: CAPE ROYAL(1)
Jockey: Karl NEISIUS - Trainer: Dean KANNEMEYER

CAPE ROYAL is unbeaten in two starts in this province and has his third run after the layoff today. He showed his true class when he won his last outing under the lights at Greyville like a true professional. His trainer is obviously preparing him for bigger things during this winter season but he oozes class and should still take some beating in this field, despite shouldering a big mass against older rivals.

Race 4: ALEXANDER(3) (Each Way)
Jockey: Billy JACOBSON - Trainer: Glen KOTZEN

ALEXANDER has shown some fair form but his latest outing was exciting and may have convinced his trainer that staying could be the son of Dynasty's forte'. He found himself way out of his ground at Greyville from a wide draw in yielding conditions over 1900m but made up the best part of seven lengths over the final 400m on that short run-in. He was only beaten four lengths by Blue Berry at the wire and it could pay to follow the progress of Lord Windsor in the previous race as that runnner represents the same formline. The Kotzen inmate will love racing down this longer run-in and is capable of a bold showing over the extra distance.
