Winning Form Best Bets
Race 2: SIOUX SHE(10)
Race 3: GEMS A PLENTY(1)
Race 4: SNOWDON(1)
Race 9: GREYSTONE(1)
Race 1: IN EIGHTY DAYS(10)
Jockey: !Semela F - Trainer: Mike DE KOCK
Workrider Francis Semela enjoys plenty of success in these races and the De Kock yard often gives him some very decent rides. He partners what is likely to be a very short-priced favourite in the form of IN EIGHTY DAYS in this contest and the son of Trippi should take some beating, despite coming off a 60 break. The De Kock inmate had two promising outings as a juvenile last season but obviously suffered a major setback and was given plenty of time to recover. His conditioner is a master in getting them back well and he doesn't need to be at his best to beat this field.
Race 2: SIOUX SHE(10)
Jockey: Fanie CHAMBERS - Trainer: Corne SPIES
SIOUX SHE finally drops back to maiden company after a hat-trick of feature contests. She fared poorly in her latest one but showed her class when only tiring late over 1100m on this course, three starts ago. That form hasn't stood up well but she takes a big drop in class today and could prove very tough to beat.
Jockey: Sherman BROWN - Trainer: Leon ERASMUS
GEMS A PLENTY got back to form when she showed her pace before staying on to be second best behind subsequent Grade 1 winner Willow Magic over this trip, four weeks ago. He is by some distance the pick of the raced runners and has strong claims of going one better.
Race 4: SNOWDON(1) - TOP BET
Jockey: Nooresh JUGLALL - Trainer: Ormond FERRARIS
SNOWDON was desperately unlucky not to have beaten MERHEE in their last meeting but is now 4.5kgs better off than his conqueror and gets the perfect opportunity to exact revenge. Of course, he was allowed to hang badly in that last contest and that cost him dearly. He did look much sharper that day but surprisingly his conditioner has opted for the removal of blinkers. Nevertheless, he is very well treated on today's weight terms and should take a power of beating. He gets the services of the stable jockey who has been in great form and that could make all the difference.
Jockey: Reserve Rnr. - Trainer: Barend BOTES
WINGS OF AN ANGEL is the second reserve runner but could be a huge player if she gets a run here. Admittedly, there is a very remote chance of her getting in but she has the credentials to feature here and could represent good each/way value. Her stable has hit form recently and she ran on well for fourth in yielding conditions over 1450m last time, despite being slow into stride. However, the run that catches the eye is the 2.50 lengths beating at the hands of subsequent dual Graded placed Jet Belle, three starts ago. She has been very competitive off her low rating and has won on this course.
