Magic Tips Best Bets

Jockey: Sean CORMACK - Trainer: Dennis DRIER

JOYFUL SPIRIT has shown that sprinting is her forte' and she has won three of her last four starts. She quickened well to beat subsequent dual winner Caviar in her last start over this trip and has been rested 13 weeks since. She takes on some classy sorts here and is slightly out at the weights but is improving quickly and this track will suit her running style. She could still be much better than her current rating and she jumps from pole position.

Jockey: Keagan DE MELO - Trainer: Mark DIXON

SHOWMETHEWAY is a top class sort who continues to be in very good nick. He had plenty to do from a wide draw in a feature over this c & d last time but was far from disgraced as he finished powerfully to be just out of the money. He is much better drawn today, extremely well in at the weights and should take a power of beating.

Race 6: DANCE ALLEY(1)
Jockey: Anthony DELPECH - Trainer: St John GRAY

DANCE ALLEY has been taking on a lot stronger on the Highveld recently. The daughter of Jam Alley was far from disgraced when she made late progress to be beaten four lengths over 1700m at the Vaal last time, despite shouldering a big mass against male rivals with a wide draw. She is much better treated at the weights against her own sex today and should give a very good account of herself.

Jockey: Bernard FAYD'HERBE - Trainer: Mike DE KOCK

FESTIVAL OF FIRE is a top class sort but she took on too much in a Grade 1 over a mile at Clairwood, last time. Still, she wasn't disgraced and was beaten just under five lengths at the wire. She had excellent form prior to that and romped to victory in the Guineas over this c & d, three starts ago. She takes on male rivals and isn't the best weighted runner in this contest but is drawn well at gate 5 and is the horse to beat.

Race 1: LITE AND BRIGHT(9) (Each Way)
Jockey:Brandon LERENA - Trainer: Gavin VAN ZYL

However, the in-form Van Zyl could hold the key and the stable elect, LITE AND BRIGHT can make amends for a dismal last effort in yielding conditions. She had useful form on the Highveld prior to that and her tactics could prove effective on this course. However, she is clearly better in good going.
