Magic Tips Best Bets

Jockey:Andrew FORTUNE- Trainer: Joey RAMSDEN

TIGERESS DANCE wasn't fancied but still produced an eye-catching debut when she ran on smartly for third in open company in heavy conditions over this c & d, three weeks ago. The daughter of Tiger Dance obviously has loads of ability and just like many of her trainer's horses, should make plenty of natural improvement. She faces her own age group here and merits healthy respect

Race 6: WAVIN' FLAG(3) - TOP BET
Jockey:Karis TEETAN- Trainer: Brett CRAWFORD

hese staying maiden contests in the Cape often sees the same rivals having a go at each other but this time WAVIN' FLAG comes up against the usual suspects and the Brett Crawford runner could come up trumps. The son of Silvano is lightly raced and has improved significantly with each of his three career starts. He relished the ten furlongs when he ran on strongly for second behind King Of The Deep in yielding conditions last time and had subsequent winner Legal Trip behind him that day. Interestingly, he had PRIVATE DOOWALEY much further behind him that day and Legal Trip accounted for the latter and TEMPLE TIGER over this c & d, next time out. The collateral form clearly points to the Silvano colt and he should love the extra distance and take some beating. The latter pairing both stay very well and only a short head separated them over 2500m, five weeks ago.

Jockey:Girish GOOMANY- Trainer: Billy PRESTAGE

MOONLIGHT GAMBLER is a seasoned campaigner that is suited to soft underfoot conditions and he has been thereabouts lately. He had too much to do at the weights in a pinnacle stakes contest last time but made late headway to finish fourth in his penultimate outing. He was just over one length behind the speedy ROARING WIND in that penultimate effort but thanks to a 4kgs apprentice claim today, he meets his conqueror on 6.5kgs better terms. The latter is likely to be fancied today on his third run after the break and the top rating must represent some good each/way value here. He is suited to this extra furlong. The latter has always shown ability but suffered a setback and was out of racing for 38 weeks He seemed not to stay seven furlongs last time but his record shows that this is his best trip and he will be competitive.

Race 9: GOLCONDA(4)
Jockey:Andrew FORTUNE- Trainer: Joey RAMSDEN

Initially, it appeared that GOLCONDA may battle to exit the maiden ranks, despite some fair sprint performances but the son of Solskjaer has been a revelation in soft underfoot conditions, recently. He clearly excels in the mud and found a strong finish to win his maiden going away over this c & d, in March. He then had two fair post maiden efforts over the minimum trip before once again finding heavy underfoot conditions last time out. He again found a strong finish to win going away over this c & d and seems to be much better than his current rating, at least in favourable conditions. With all the rains about in the Cape recently, the Ramsden inmate could again get the desired track conditions and can remain unbeaten in the wet.

Race 5: MULLINS REEF(15) (Each Way)
Jockey:MJ BYLEVELD - Trainer: Vaughan MARSHALL

MULLINS REEF has had two fair sprints over this c & d to date. He met two highly quality sorts when well beaten into third last time but the runner-up gave the form a boost with an impressive victory, next time out. This son of Mullins Bay takes on older rivals today but has plenty of scope for improvement and should be competitive.
