Race 2: MR PRESIDENT(12)

Magic Tips Best Bets

Jockey: MJ ODENDAAL - Trainer: Colin SCOTT

CHARLES GREIG has returned to form in his last two starts and now races on his most successful course. He stayed on nicely for a close third last time out and is suited to this drop in trip. His yard had a double last midweek and he could continue their good form here. He will enjoy a fast pace.

Jockey: Kevin SHEA - Trainer: Duncan HOWELLS

ORANGE BLOSSOM has shown lots of promise but she is even better than her record shows. She wasn't given the smartest of rides but still ran on nicely for third in a minor feature over this c & d last time. She is very well drawn this time around and it comes as little surprise that Shea climbs aboard the daughter of Miesque's Approval. She drops in class and should take some beating in this field.

Race 8: TARGET FIVE(7)
Jockey: Athandiwe MGUDLWA - Trainer: Garth PULLER

The Garth Puller yard have enjoyed a decent start to the season and that could continue on their home track here. The stable sends out TARGET FIVE and AIR PATROL to contest this handicap. Both runners have useful staying form and enjoying racing on this track. AIR PATROL raced handy and was outrun late into a close third over 2800m last time out whilst TARGET FIVE made steady progress to finish a further two lengths adrift in fifth. The top rating is now 2kgs better off with his stablemate and is suited by the drop in trip. Both runners should go really close here.

Race 9: GREY BERET(3)
Jockey: Sean CORMACK - Trainer: Frank ROBINSON

GREY BERET has shown useful form and he made eye-catching late progress when a close fourth over 1800m on this course last time out. He may have still just needed the outing and will be cherry-ripe on his third run after the break today. It is encouraging that Cormack retains the ride and the son of Miesque's Approval has a huge chance of winning this contest. The only concern is whether he will see out the extra furlong.

Race 3: WATERS EDGE(8) (Each Way)
Jockey: Stuart RANDOLPH - Trainer: Adam MARCUS

This is a competitive contest but there could be lots of value to be had about WATERS EDGE. The daugh- ter of Mullins Bay needed both her comeback runs but improved when she only tired late over a mile on this course, two weeks ago. She will be cherry-ripe today and the slight drop in trip will suit her really well. She has a good draw and should give a decent account of herself.
