Chelsea vs Norwich | Sunday 04 May | Stamford Bridge | 17:00

Basement dwellers Norwich City travel to West London on Sunday afternoon to take on a rock-solid Chelsea in hope of a positive reaction to survive relegation, while the Blues will look to finish their season off strong after their incredible victory over Liverpool. To be fair, Chelsea are still not fully out of the title race and picking up points here will be vital should either City or Liverpool slip up in their remaining fixtures. Norwich have the toughest run in to the end of the season of all the sides in the league, Chelsea just another nightmare fixture for the relegation bound club.

To Win (90mins)
Chelsea 1/5
Draw 51/10
Norwich 11/1

Chelsea
Jose Mourinho delivered a managerial masterclass as Chelsea kept the Premier League title race alive with a 2-0 win over Premier League leaders Liverpool. Chelsea will probably not end up title-winners this season but they would seem to have had a fairly decisive say at the last in who will, after a brilliantly engineered defensive performance. The Blues will look to finish the season off strongly with another impressive display when they meet a struggling Norwich City side in desperate need of a win to avoid relegation. Chelsea boast the best home record in the league this season having played a total of eighteen matches, winning fifteen times with two draws. The Blues have scored a remarkable 43 goals while conceding just eleven at Stamford Bridge. Eden Hazard is expected to return to the squad after recovering from a calf injury he suffered in the quarter-final Champions League win over Paris St-Germain. The Belgian was recently voted PFA Young Player of the Year and will give Chelsea a huge lift. Mourinho likes a counter-attacking style of football and Hazard’s blistering pace and skill could be the perfect weapon. Mark Schwarzer will retain his position in goal for Chelsea with the experienced Petr Cech out for the rest of the season. Ramires will miss the second of a four match ban following his off the ball elbow against Sebastian Larsson in their 2-1 defeat to Sunderland two weeks ago. Despite Chelsea’s injury concerns, they do have enough quality in their squad to claim maximum points against a Norwich side struggling for confidence.

Norwich
Norwich City crashed to a 4-0 Premier League defeat against Manchester United at Old Trafford that kept them firmly mired in relegation trouble. Norwich dropped to the relegation zone after the defeat and Sunderland’s win at Cardiff. Norwich must now realistically try and halt title-challenging Chelsea and FA Cup finalists Arsenal, along with relying on results elsewhere if they are to stay in the Premier League. The Canaries have slipped below the waterline. They have now lost five consecutive league games and won only three league matches since December 7. That is why the attainable goal of top flight consolidation now appears beyond them. Johan Elmander is expected to come into the side in place of the ineffective Ricky van Wolfswinkel. The Swedish striker, who has yet to make an impression following his loan move from Galatasaray, will be key in this match. Robert Snodgrass has been one player who has shone for the side in his entire time in the top flight. His goals, assists and free-kicks make him an all-around excellent winger and the best player the Canaries have. Norwich know their entire season could be decided by the outcome of this fixture and they will need to perform their utmost best to get a result against a Chelsea side who rarely lose at home.

VERDICT: Chelsea 1/5
Chelsea have been in irresistible form at home this season while Norwich have struggled on the road. The Blues will want to finish the season off strong with the highest position possible and are tipped to claim maximum points against the Canaries.
