Jockey: Richard FOURIE - Trainer: Justin SNAITH

CAPTAIN BLACKWATER has improved nicely since his 20 week absence and he handled the turn well when finishing a decent 3rd over seven furlongs, three weeks ago. The Captain Al gelding produced his career best effort over this c & d in his penultimate outing and reverts to sprinting today. The Justin Snaith inmate should continue to improve and he should go very well in this opening event.

Jockey: Greg CHEYNE - Trainer: Glen KOTZEN

ALIYSA'S PRIDE needed her two comeback efforts and she will be cherry-ripe today. She had excuses but still stayed on well for 4th over seven furlongs last time out. The daughter of Pure Prize is versati- le and she began her career with plenty of promise over sprints. She should give a very good account of herself today.

Jockey: Richard FOURIE - Trainer: Justin SNAITH

The Justin Snaith yard holds a strong hand in this novice contest and AZARENKA is strongly preferred. The three-year old daughter of Windrush has shown lots of promise but suffered a setback after her run on Met day. However, she had an exciting comeback run despite a big mass over this c & d, five weeks ago. She was just in front of many of today's opposition in that event but will strip fitter and has most scope for improvement. She is well treated at the weights and can certainly go one better.

Jockey: Karl NEISIUS - Trainer: Dean KANNEMEYER

CAPTAIN ALFREDO is undefeated from his two career starts and looks a top prospect in the making. The speedy son of Captain Al cruised to victory on his debut over this trip at Durbanville and then showed his class when he dead-heated for 1st, despite a big mass over 1300m, second time out. He takes a steep jump in class now but has huge scope for improvement and will enjoy being led by a few equally speedy sorts in this handicap.

Jockey: Karl NEISIUS - Trainer: Mike ROBINSON

This is a tricky fillies and mares handicap but it is really encouraging that Karl Neisius retains the ride on HURRICANE WIND from the Mike Robinson yard. This four-year old daughter of Western Winter has shown some life since her lengthy absence. She was runner-up behind a top sort over this distance three runs back before having excuses for her subsequent performance. Nevertheless, she got things slightly back on track when she ran on late for 5th over this c & d behind Swannee Rose, three weeks ago. She finished 1.65 lengths adrift of CASEY'S JET on that occasion but meets that rival on 1.5kgs better terms which brings her right into contention.
