Race 1: BY JOVE(4)
Jockey: Randall SIMONS - Trainer: Dianne STENGER

BY JOVE has all the right credentials but it must be noted that she was carded to race at this venue last Thursday. She stayed on strongly for a close 3rd behind two useful sorts over 1160m last time and has strong claims in this field.

Race 3: LEXICON(5)
Jockey: S'manga KHUMALO - Trainer: Sean TARRY

LEXICON has improved immensely with each of her three starts and she promises plenty more. She stayed on well for 2nd in her first attempt over a mile recently and can stake a serious claim in this field. Her stable continues their excellent run of form.

Jockey: Piere STRYDOM - Trainer: Gavin VAN ZYL

HEART OF A LION's last run must be completely ignored as he hated the treacherous underfoot conditions His form shows that he is capable of considerably better and he is head and shoulders above anything in today's line-up. The concern is that the Seul Amour gelding hasn't won for over a year but his conditioner has found the perfect contest for him to get his confidence back. Admittedly, he is out at the weights with the three-year old KINGMAMBO'S LEGACY but the recently gelded son of Ideal World still has a mountain to climb to defeat the top selection. Piere Strydom knows him well and the pair should take some beating.

Jockey: Ian STURGEON - Trainer: Gavin VAN ZYL

DOWN UNDER did things the hard way from back-to-back shocking draws but the Fort Wood colt proved his class with solid recent performances. He fought back doggedly when beaten just over a neck into 2nd last time and will be cherry-ripe on his third run after the layoff today. The Gavin van Zyl inmate has lots of room for further improvement and he should take a power of beating from his midfield draw. The slight worry is that he races on this track for the first time.

Jockey: Marthinus MIENIE - Trainer: Mike BASS

There are some smart three-year old sprinters in this handicap and the formline could be worth taking note of. HEART WARMING didn't make her Highveld debut in the Gardenia Stakes recently as she bolted the course on two occasions and was expectedly withdrawn. Her conditioner races her just twelve days later which suggests that she has recovered well after that experience. The Cape visitor began her career with plenty of promise but it seems the minimum trip is best for her. She needed both her comeback runs around the turn at Durbanville and will be cherry-ripe on her third run after the rest. The daughter of Miesque's Approval has an eye-catching turn of foot and she is much better than her current rating.
