Jockey: Raymond DANIELSON - Trainer: Tara LAING

SUPERSONIC ROCK finally bounced back to his best when he reverted to sprinting, recently. However, the son of Seventh Rock should have exited the maiden ranks on that occasion and his jockey will be keen to make amends today. The three-year old gelding showed lots of speed that day and looked to have the race in the bag when he was surprisingly caught on the line.

Jockey: Raymond DANIELSON - Trainer: Tara LAING

VAUCLAIR hasn't disgraced himself on the polytrack in his last two runs but there is no doubt that he is most effective on this track. The classy son of Var has won 50% of his one dozen attempts over this c & d and he will strip much fitter today. He is well treated by the official ratings and should go very close in this pinnacle contest.

Jockey: Raymond DANIELSON - Trainer: Tara LAING

The in-form Tara Laing yard holds a strong hand in this staying conditions stakes. The classy staying duo of CROWN OF GOLD and DRILL SARGEANT represent the stable and the pair should go very well. The former has an excellent record on this track and he had a fair comeback run on the polytrack over shorter, recently. He was poor in the Grade 1 Gold Cup when he travelled up to KZN in his penultimate start but is an entirely different proposition on home soil. The son of Silvano crushed his opposition in last season's Gold Cup over 3600m and he is best in on official ratings. His stablemate is 2kgs out at the weights with the top selection but he has a very decent c & d record and is in good nick. He will be cherry-ripe on his third run after the layoff but is well held on previous meetings with the former.

Jockey: Wayne AGRELLA - Trainer: Grant PADDOCK

GOLDEN DYNASTY is probably lesser suited to the polytrack but she is very good on the grass and she is in fact, unbeaten in both her local turf runs on this track. The daughter of Mullins Bay was given a great ride from the front when she won her penultimate start over nine furlongs against stronger. This is her optimimum distance though and she can stake a serious claim, despite top weight.

Jockey: Teaque GOULD - Trainer: Jacques STRYDOM

This is a low-key fillies and mares handicap and an upset looks on the cards. BRYONYBRIGHTWATER may seem a bizarre first selection but the five-year old mare is capable of much better than her four local runs. Interestingly, all those efforts were on the polytrack and the daughter of Dupont races on the grass in PE for the first time today. Her rating has plummeted since she left KZN and her only career victory came by seven lengths over this trip, just over one year ago.
