Jockey: Barend VLOOH - Trainer: Yvette BREMNER

GRAND LODGE has employed frontrunning tactics to good effect and he brings solid form into this event. The Latino Magic gelding was pipped on the post in each of his last two comeback runs over this c & d and he will be cherry-ripe today. The form of his last run was franked when the 3rd placed finisher won his subsequent outing. The Yvette Bremner inmate unfortunately has another wide draw to contend with but he should still go close in this field.

Race 5: PEMBA(6) - TOP BET
Jockey: Karl ZECHNER - Trainer: Dorrie SHAM

PEMBA loves this surface as he showed when he completed a fine hat-trick of wins, prior to his slight- ly disappointing recent comeback turf run in yielding conditions. The Tiger Ridge gelding had his maiden victory over a mile on the Vaal sand so today's rise in trip could be exactly what he requires, particularly as he finishes strongly over shorter. His wide draw is no issue and he will strip fitter.

Race 7: BILLY RED(8)
Jockey: Karl ZECHNER - Trainer: Dorrie SHAM

Once again this handicap has an open look to it but the lightweights could be worth following. The runner that represents decent each/way value is BILLY RED from the Dorrie Sham yard. This son of Horse Chestnut has thrived on the polytrack and his two comeback runs after a 21 week absence have been very pleasing. He only lacked extra late when beaten just over one length in his comeback run and then stayed on strongly for an even closer 4th in novice company over this c & d, seven days ago. The geld- ing will be cherry-ripe on his third run after the layoff and he should go well.

Jockey: Gift FUNEKA - Trainer: Mitchell WIESE

This is yet another competitive handicap but ASGARD has taken nicely to the polytrack and he is worth an each/way bet. The six-year old Captain Al gelding has won two of his last four starts on this track and he should have finished closer but for traffic problems last time out. He has cracked a good draw today and is a major contender with Gift Funeka retaining the ride.

Race 1: LUNA BELLA(14)
Jockey: Gift FUNEKA - Trainer: Mitchell WIESE

LUNA BELLA found longshot betting support when she made a fair debut on the turf in yielding going over seven furlongs, recently. The half-sister to the classy Jet Belle overcame her wide draw and set the pace before racing green and tiring over the final furlong. Still, she was beaten 6.50 lengths into 5th on that occasion and the experience would have brought her on. She has many lengths to find with CRIME OF PASSION on that outing but the drop in trip and her good draw are major factors in her favour today. The daughter of Judpot should employ similar tactics on her polytrack debut and she can certainly build on that run.
