Race 2: THE POET(5)
Jockey: Keagan DE MELO - Trainer: Mark DIXON

THE POET has shown lots of promise and he stands out in this weak maiden contest, despite a below-par last effort. The son of Brave Tin Soldier may have felt the exertions of a smart comeback performance after a ten week absence but he is clearly much better than that last run. He will be cherry-ripe on his third run after the layoff and despite a wide draw, he should take a power of beating. He has already shown that he has enough early speed to overcome the barrier.

Jockey: Anthony DELPECH - Trainer: Sean TARRY

VERGE was quietly fancied in the betting market when she made an eye-catching debut over this c & d, eight weeks ago. She was slow into stride and understandably raced green, but ran on smartly to finish a close 5th, beaten just over one length at the line. The daughter of Toreador would have come on appreciably from the effort and has lots of scope for improvement. She is well drawn today and could take some beating, if jumping on terms.

Jockey: Alec FORBES - Trainer: Dennis BOSCH

The extremely fast CHERRY TRIPPER continues to hold her form and she is back against her own sex today. She was nabbed late in yielding going last time and although her c & d record looks dismal, she could still take some catching in this field.

Race 9: DELAMERE(1)
Jockey: Anthony DELPECH - Trainer: Gavin VAN ZYL

DELAMERE is a gutsy sort who continues to finish in the money. He has produced the goods on various surfaces and stayed on well for 4th in a minor feature on the grass, recently. The son of Right Approach drops in class today and although he shoulders a big mass of 60kgs, he should still take all the beating.

Race 4: DE NIMES(12)
Jockey: Anthony DELPECH - Trainer: Sean TARRY

DE NIMES found betting support when she made a fair debut in yielding conditions over six furlongs at Scottsville, recently. She met a competitive line-up that day and the experience would have brought the well-related daughter of Fort Beluga on. She takes on male rivals now but her pace will stand her in good stead on this surface and she merits healthy respect. Her good draw is an obvious plus.
