Jockey: Warren KENNEDY - Trainer: Kumaran NAIDOO

ROY'S GODDESS produced a promising debut when she ran on well for 3rd in yielding going over this c & d, two weeks ago. She finished clear of all the raced runners in this contest, that day, and should make natural improvement.

Race 4: FIREWOOD(10)
Jockey: Sean CORMACK - Trainer: Dennis DRIER

FIREWOOD drifted alarmingly in the betting market on debut but still ran on nicely for a decent 4th, beaten just under two lengths over this c & d. He was understandably green on that occasion but the experience would have brought him on appreciably and he should have lots more to offer today. The betting market must be closely monitored with regards to the expensive newcomer MASTER'S SPIRIT from the Mike de Kock yard. This is a three-year old son of Jet Master out of the classy Fort Wood mare, Urabamba and he cost his owner R3.4 million. Warren Kennedy does duty for the yard.

Jockey: Athandiwe MGUDLWA - Trainer: Mark DIXON

This is a competitive maiden contest with some improving types and an exciting finish should be on the cards. RAVISHING LILLY probably represents the strongest formline and she built on her fair debut when she produced a smart second effort over this c & d. The daughter of Ravishing ran on nicely for 3rd and was beaten just one length at the wire. She was three parts of a length behind CHAMAYLEE that day but is now 1.5kgs better off and has good scope for further improvement. Her pole position is a big advantage.

Jockey: Derryl DANIELS - Trainer: Mike DE KOCK

SAMHAAN has realized some of his earlier potential since being gelded and he produced two strong efforts to win back-to-back starts over seven furlongs at Greyville, recently. The latest victory earned him a five pound penalty but the lightly raced five-year old still has lots more improvement to offer and he is equally effective on the turf. He will be cherry-ripe today and should enjoy the mile.

This contest is far from straight forward despite the betting market suggesting otherwise and an upset could be on the cards. The six-year old lightweight HIGHLAND FLING doesn't have much inspiring form recent form but he was far from disgraced in a minor feature over this c & d last time. He has a fair c & d record and drops in class now. The son of King Of Kings was just over three lengths behind Commodity Strike in that last run and the latter races in a much stronger handicap in the previous contest.
