Jockey: Gavin LERENA - Trainer: Geoff WOODRUFF

RAKE'S CHESTNUT was bitterly disappointing in the Summer Cup last time and it seems that the son of Horse Chestnut has lost a bit of earlier confidence that saw him almost lower the colours of the top class Legislate in the Daily News 2000. However, his conditioner has found the perfect race to build him up once more and the four-year old chestnut gelding is extremely well treated by today's weights. He drops heavily in class and if reproducing his best form, he should trounce his opposition.

Jockey: Gavin LERENA - Trainer: Geoff WOODRUFF

BIG BUCKS drifted alarmingly in the betting market but she produced a smart debut over 1700m at the Vaal, two weeks ago. The Geoff Woodruff inmate raced handy on that occasion and she was only outrun late into 2nd, beaten a length and a half at the line. She would have tightened up nicely from that run and there should be natural improvement to come from the daughter of Mullins Bay. She is once again drawn in pole position.

LION'S EMBLEM gets reacquainted with Gavin Lerena and the Lion Tamer gelding drops heavily in class today. The four-year old bay has shown useful staying ability but may have been outclassed in his fair last two feature attempts. He deservedly shoulders a big mass here but still has lots of scope for improvement and he should go very well in this low-key handicap.

Jockey: Gavin LERENA - Trainer: Roy MAGNER

MAIN SUNDAY silenced her critics about her inability to be competitive on this longer run-in when she stayed on well to be 2nd best behind a highly regarded three-year old over this c & d, four weeks ago. She finished 2.50 lengths clear of the 3rd placed runner and the daughter of Admire Main drops further in class today. She is handily drawn and should give a very good account of herself.

Jockey: Sherman BROWN - Trainer: Leon ERASMUS

NICE STRIDE hasn't won in a while but he has shown encouraging signs in his last two starts and today could be his day. He ran on nicely late for a decent 6th over this c & d in his penultimate run and then transferred that form to the sand, nine days ago. The Leon Erasmus inmate has been docked a further two pounds in his turf rating and he is much better treated on these handicap terms. He should be running on at the finish.
