Jockey: Juan-Paul v.d.MERWE - Trainer: Michael AZZIE

There are plenty of very moderate sorts in this opening contest and GONDOLA GIRL has an ideal chance to shed her maiden tag. The daughter of Lateral showed pace on her useful debut over this c & d six weeks ago and she followed that up with a good run on the turf over six furlongs, recently. She has lots of scope for improvement and is blessed with a pole position barrier. She represents an in-form yard and should go very close.

Jockey: Gavin LERENA - Trainer: Lucky HOUDALAKIS

PYRAMUS is improving quickly and his solid recent performances on the turf has come in much stronger company. He was outrun into a close 3rd last time and has huge claims, if handling this surface today. His good barrier is a definite plus and he merits healthy respect with Gavin Lerena back in the irons.

Jockey: Karl ZECHNER - Trainer: Roy MAGNER

This is a competitive fillies and mares handicap and an exciting clash between CRISTAL ARROW and MASSACHUSETTS is on the cards. The former gets the narrow first verdict as she is in receipt of a handy 4kgs from the latter. The daughter of A P Arrow has done very well on this surface and her comeback form after a lengthy 26 week absence has been solid. She is ideally distance suited and the form of her last run worked out well when the runner-up thrashed male rivals on this track subsequent- ly. The Magner inmate will have no issues with the rise in class.

Jockey: Piere STRYDOM - Trainer: Romeo FRANCIS

This is a low-key fillies and mares handicap and whilst caution is often advised, the formline to follow could be the Captain's Diva c & d run on 21/10. The speedy DANIELLE fared best of all in that event and she was 2nd best, beaten just under three lengths at the wire. She was in turn a little over two lengths in front of the 3rd placed finisher FAB CAT that day and franked that form with a subsequent victory. The daughter of Casey Tibbs tired badly over six furlongs last Tuesday but she will prefer this trip and Strydom retains the ride.

Jockey: Piere STRYDOM - Trainer: Stephen MOFFATT

The only filly in this contest LADY CASEY is no stranger to competing against the boys and she loves racing on the sand. She continues to drop in the ratings and has finally cracked a good draw. The daughter of Announce produced a decent penultimate run over this c & d and will be cherry-ripe on her third run after a break. It is really encouraging that Strydom climbs aboard and she should go very well.
