Magic Tips Best Bets

Race 1: SUN FLASH(2)
Jockey: Xolane NDLOVU - Trainer: Hekkie STRYDOM

SUN FLASH has had enough chances but he has improved in recent outings and he produced a solid penultimate run over this c & d. He seemed to find six furlongs a tad on the sharp side last time but will be a force from a handy draw today.

Jockey: Raymond DANIELSON - Trainer: Tara LAING

UNANNOUNCED completed a smart hat-trick of wins over this c & d, since relocating from KZN. The six year old gelding raced in touch before drawing off to produce his easiest local win by just over three lengths at the line. He received the maximum eight pound penalty and takes on much stronger now, but still has lots more to offer and should handle today's steep rise in class. The Snitzel gelding is favourably drawn and is once again the one to beat.

Race 8: KUMIKO(2)
Jockey: Francois HERHOLDT - Trainer: Alan GREEFF

The lightly raced KUMIKO has shown good potential and she easily won her maiden over this c & d, second time out. She followed that up with a solid performance in a feature over 1300m in her comeback run, two weeks ago. The daughter of Silvano only lacked extra late in finishing a creditable 3rd behind a Cape raider and she has lots of scope for improvement. She isn't too badly treated on official ratings and should be very competitive.

Race 9: BENEDICT(4)
Jockey: Gift FUNEKA - Trainer: Yvette BREMNER

The speedy BENEDICT has shown lots of determination in winning back-to-back starts and he comes here in search of a hat-trick. He was handed a hefty seven pound penalty for his last polytrack win but is even better on the grass and the 12 week break would have helped his cause. The son of Var represents a red-hot stable and he merits healthy respect despite taking on slightly stronger.

Race 5: RUSHING ELF(6) (Each Way)
Jockey: Xolane NDLOVU - Trainer: Alan GREEFF

Only eight fillies and mares go to post for this handicap but there is precious little between them and an exciting finish is expected. The Greeff yard holds a decent hand with their trio and RUSHING ELF gets the nod. This six-year old mare has improved her formline in recent outings despite being her customary slow starting self. She is 2kgs better off with EGREGIOUS for a 1.65 lengths beating but that was on the polytrack and she is even better on the grass.
