Magic Tips Best Bets
Jockey: Gunter WROGEMANN - Trainer: Dorrie SHAM
CAPTAIN JINKS had terrible issues that kept him out of racing for a long-time but he has shown promise and caught the eye with two pleasing comeback runs. He is ideally c & d suited and should go very close on his third run after the layoff today.
Race 4: ARGO ONE(4)
Jockey: Marco V/RENSBURG - Trainer: Cliffie MILLER
ARGO ONE has won both of his local starts and could have a bright future. He followed up his maiden win with a gutsy victory over a dual subsequent winner over this c & d and earned a 12 week break. The son of Argonaut was handed a three pound penalty but still has lots more to offer and should again go very close in this field.
Race 5: JACK FRIDAY(3) - TOP BET
Jockey: Sherman BROWN - Trainer: Bill HUMAN
This is an interesting contest as many of the principle form contenders have to prove that they are effective over seven furlongs. The top selection JACK FRIDAY has no such issues though and he could make that count. He enjoys racing on this surface and is holding his form. He fought hard when going down three parts of a length to a Gauteng raider over this c & d recently and has strong claims of going one better today. The Greys Inn colt is drawn in pole and escaped without a penalty for that last run.
Race 9: CLOUD RUNNER(5)
Jockey: Muzi YENI - Trainer: Tienie PRINSLOO
CLOUD RUNNER has always maintained her consistency and she comes into this event searching for a hat trick. She was a facile winner over stablemate JET FOR JOY (5kgs better off) over this c & d in her penultimate run and worked hard but showed her class when winning over shorter next time out. The daughter of Stronghold was handed a three pound penalty for that last win but still has more to offer and can handle this rise in class.
Jockey: Collen STOREY - Trainer: Coerie LENSLEY
MESSENGER JOHN, just like his stable has made good improvement in the past fortnight. The three-year old gelding had little go his way but still produced a fair last run behind easy winner Dodgy Itie. He finished just over one length in front of FIRST LAW that day but will be a different proposition, if jumping on terms from his good barrier. He could also enjoy the shorter trip and has claims in a weak field.
