Race 6: CHERRY TRIPPER(1)
Race 7: BOMI(2)

Magic Tips Best Bets

Race 1: HOLD THE LINE(7)
Jockey: Sean CORMACK - Trainer: Dennis DRIER

HOLD THE LINE has some issues but he clearly benefitted from the long break when he made huge improve- ment second time out. He tried six furlongs on this track that day and challenged strongly to finish runner-up behind a form contender. The son of Miesque's Approval will strip fitter now and his pedigree suggests that he will relish this extra furlong. The Drier inmate has obvious room for more improvement and he merits healthy respect.

Race 3: PENA PALACE(5)
Jockey: Stuart RANDOLPH - Trainer: Duncan HOWELLS

PENA PALACE represents a red-hot stable and she improved her formline before going on a ten week break. In fact, she produced her career best effort when running on strongly for a close 3rd over seven furlongs on this track in her penultimate outing. The daughter of Judpot made steady progress on the grass next time out despite not striding out and certainly has room for improvement. Her conditio- ner will have her fit and ready and she should enjoy the mile. The slight worry is her wide barrier.

Race 4: THE MORRIGAN(1)
Jockey: Anthony DELPECH - Trainer: Yogas GOVENDER

THE MORRIGAN has shown fair form since arriving in KZN and more importantly, she is suited to this surface. She has been campaigning against much stronger and the form of her last start has been franked. The engaging of Delpech suggests that her conditioner will have her fit and ready and the five-year old mare has dropped steadily in the ratings. She is well drawn and can stake a serious claim in this moderate handicap.

Race 7: BOMI(2)
Jockey: Sean CORMACK - Trainer: Dennis DRIER

BOMI has shown plenty of promise and she is overdue her maiden victory. She finished close-up in her only polytrack run and has strong claims of exiting the maiden ranks tonight. The main threat will come from the Campbell inmate DARK ROSE.

VALUE BET FOR TODAY:

Race 6: ILANGA(7) (Each Way)
Jockey: Callan MURRAY - Trainer: Doug CAMPBELL

There are some smart speedsters on display in this handicap and an exciting finish is expected. ILANGA is a lightly raced three-year old who has shown promise on the polytrack and he will relish the likely blistering pace. He ran on well for 4th over this c & d in his comeback run after a 25 week absence and will strip fitter tonight. The son of Muhtafal has obvious scope for improvement and he shoulders a low mass against some quality sorts.
