Magic Tips Best Bets

Jockey: Derreck DAVID - Trainer: Gavin VAN ZYL

GINGER BISCUIT has taken very nicely to the polytrack and she has been runner-up in her last two c & d efforts. She was outrun late into 2nd against male rivals last time and earned her nine week break. She represents an in-form yard this evening and has strong claims from her good draw against her own sex.

Race 3: DIANA'S JET(3)
Jockey: S'manga KHUMALO - Trainer: Mike DE KOCK

DIANA'S JET has produced all of her best performances on this surface but she has become costly to follow. However, the well-related daughter of Jet Master is only having her sixth career outing and still has scope to improve. She could enjoy being given a typical driving Khumalo ride and the Mike de Kock inmate is a lively contender in a competitive contest.

Jockey: Sean VEALE - Trainer: Dennis DRIER

HO'OPONOPONO has shown talent from day one but has been plagued with some serious issues. However, his conditioner has got to the bottom of his troubles and the Horse Chestnut colt has been impressive in back-to-back wins on this track after returning from a lengthy absence. The Drier inmate received the maximum eight pound penalty for his last c & d win but he has huge scope for improvement and is having just his fifth career outing tonight. He should handle the steep rise in class and is a major contend- er.

Race 7: ZESTFUL(3) - TOP BET
Jockey: Stuart RANDOLPH - Trainer: Duncan HOWELLS

The remaining two contests on tonight's card takes place on the grass and just a small but competitive field of seven runners go to post here. The pace or lack thereof should be interesting but ZESTFUL's swift turn of foot will certainly stand him in good stead. The Duncan Howells inmate is often thereab- outs and he drew off to record a comfortable win over a mile on the turf, recently. The victory earned him a five pound penalty but he has more to come at this level and is equally effective over this shorter trip. He represents an in-form combination.

Race 8: LIVE CONTROVERSY(4) (Each Way)
Jockey: Warren KENNEDY - Trainer: Colin SCOTT

LIVE CONTROVERSY finally returns to the grass and has kindly been docked two pounds in his rating. He was below-par in his last two polytrack efforts but had some smart performances prior to that. The seven-year old gelding is at his best on the turf though and is a former winner on this track. He should give a very good account of himself tonight.
