Race 3: LEGAL FORCE(1)
Jockey: Aldo DOMEYER - Trainer: Paddy KRUYER

This is a competitive opening leg of the Place Accumulator but the formline that could be dominant is the Captain Sam run over this c & d on 20/12. LEGAL FORCE and PROVENANCE represent that formline and both fillies now race against their own sex. The former had an issue after her debut but she showed what she is capable of when runner-up in her comeback run over this c & d. She weakened steadily in that last start but now has her third run after the rest and will be cherry-ripe.

Jockey: Weichong MARWING - Trainer: Mike DE KOCK

The visiting three-year old PINE PRINCESS is top class and she makes her debut in the 'mother city' today. She had two cracking runs around the left hand turn at Clairwood and that will stand her in good stead. The Mike de Kock inmate has trained on from last season and she showed her class when fighting on doggedly to beat older rivals over this trip in a Highveld feature at her penultimate run. She ran on again when finding the mile still too short for her last time but will be cherry-ripe now and can certainly rise to the challenge. She gets Weichong Marwing in the irons and has claims from her good draw. The obvious concern is whether she has acclimatized.

Jockey: Richard FOURIE - Trainer: Justin SNAITH

The country's premier mile contest, the Grade 1 Queen's Plate sees just nine runners go to post but the stage is set for an intriguing and exciting finish. The pace or lack thereof is the obvious issue and without any signs of a pacesetter, the runner that quickens the best in the sprint for home can land the spoils. The top class four-year colt LEGISLATE has it all and his turn of foot in the Daily News 2000 at Greyville was sensational. He only just held on that day but was perhaps moved on too soon. There were major concerns when he pulled up lame after his July success but the champion colt proved his well-being with an effortless comeback win over this c & d on his seasonal debut, seven weeks ago. There is nothing to suggest that any of the rivals from his last run can overturn the form and the Dynasty colt will strip fitter. He really does seem to have this race at his mercy.

Race 4: HENRY OF YORK(5) (Each Way)
Jockey: Weichong MARWING - Trainer: Darryl HODGSON

HENRY OF YORK has found some form since relocating to Cape Town and he has taken on much stronger than today's line-up. He tired late into a creditable 5th over nine furlongs last time and drops heavily in class. The four-year old gelding has produced some quality performances against the likes of Dynamic and he will be very competitive in this field. He has the widest barrier to overcome but gets the services of top class jockey Weichong Marwing and will love the likely blistering pace.
