Race 1: ROYAL CHIAN(6)
Race 6: COLD AS ICE(5)

Magic Tips Best Bets

Jockey: Bernard FAYD'HERBE - Trainer: Joey RAMSDEN

The formline to follow in this maiden event could be the Stem In Die Bos run over this c & d on the last day of 2014. Both CAPSTONE VON KLUH and ROY'S WINTER PATCH went off at long-odds that day but produced fair first runs. The former raced prominent and only tired late into 4th, beaten 4.30 lengths at the line whilst the latter made late progress to finish just a neck adrift in 5th position. The pair hail from yards that seldom have them wound-up first time out so there could be heaps of improve- ment to come.

Race 3: SAIL SOUTH(1)
Jockey: Corne ORFFER - Trainer: Brett CRAWFORD

SAIL SOUTH is a gutsy performer who still has plenty to offer. He made light work of subsequent winner Solar Star over this c & d last time and now has his third run back from his 21 week absence. That win earned him the maximum eight pound penalty but he drops in class and is no stranger to shouldering big masses. The Crawford inmate should still be very competitive in this line-up.

Jockey: Grant V/NIEKERK - Trainer: Mike BASS

This is a very competitive handicap that features some potentially smart three-year olds. The Mike Bass inmate TOMBA LA BOMBA has shown promise from day one and he already appears above-average. He was a fluent maiden winner at his 3rd attempt and wasn't completely disgraced in taking on stronger rivals on his handicap debut over this c & d, recently. Quite frankly, the son of Trippi should have finished closer than 4th but for having to be held up at crucial stages. He drops in class now and is above the handicapper's assessment at this stage. He is well drawn once again and can make amends.

Race 6: COLD AS ICE(5) - TOP BET
Jockey: Sean CORMACK - Trainer: Joey RAMSDEN

COLD AS ICE continues to display her sheer class and she has now reeled off four consecutive wins after her narrow debut defeat. The daughter of Western Winter has already displayed her versatility and she cruised to an easy victory over ROSIER (4.5kgs worse off) over 1100m in a feature, three weeks ago. She easily beat Diana Stakes winner DOUBLE WHAMMY over seven furlongs in a Grade 2 at her penultimate start and looks destined for the top. The Ramsden inmate is once again best in on official ratings and she should take a power of beating.

Race 4: NATURAL BLONDE(4) (Each Way)
Jockey: MJ BYLEVELD - Trainer: Greg ENNION

This is another competitive event but the value could lie with NATURAL BLONDE from the Greg Ennion yard. This chestnut filly has finished 4th in her last four starts and has room for improvement. She made late progress over a mile last time after being slow into stride and could relish being equipped with blinkers for the first time today. Interestingly, she was only half a length adrift of the 3rd placed finisher So Suspect in that latest effort whilst today's likely favourite BLACK BELVEDERE was almost two lengths adrift of the same rival on her Secret Society performance.
