Magic Tips Best Bets

Race 3: MUSIC APP(1) - TOP BET
Jockey: Piere STRYDOM - Trainer: Darryl HODGSON

MUSIC APP has done extremely well in recent outings and has met some classy sorts along the way. He was 2nd best behind a subsequent winner over this c & d last time and finished a creditable 3rd to another talented sort in his penultimate run. He is the clear first pick of the raced runners and this time, it will take a very decent newcomer to topple the son of Jay Peg. Visiting jockey Piere Strydom gets the ride.

Jockey: Sean CORMACK - Trainer: Mike STEWART

CHESTNUT DANCER is holding her form really well and she has a solid c & d record. The speedy daughter of Horse Chestnut was caught late over this c & d last time and has more to offer. She was handed a two pound penalty for her troubles and she rises slightly in class, but Cormack knows her well and she can stake another serious claim here.

Race 5: PERINI(5)
Jockey: Piere STRYDOM - Trainer: Darryl HODGSON

PERINI promised plenty after she won her maiden impressively over this c & d in her fourth start. She has been consistent since but more was expected of the daughter of Judpot. Nevertheless, she is holdi- ng her form and has competed well at this level. She gets Strydom in the irons and is the pick in a competitive line-up.

Race 9: BLUE DOOR(3)
Jockey: Greg CHEYNE - Trainer: Eric SANDS

BLUE DOOR is well-related and he relished the ground when he made big improvement over this c & d, five weeks ago. The Fort Wood gelding ran on nicely and was beaten three parts of a length into 2nd at the line. He is having just his fifth career start and should continue to improve. His wide draw isn't a major concern as he runs on from off the pace.

Race 6: FLY BY NIGHT(10) (Each Way)
Jockey: Bernard FAYD'HERBE - Trainer: Mike BASS

The country's best sprinters gather for the renewal of this Grade 1 sprint event and a usual thrilling finish is on the cards. The fairer sex has a trio of lively representatives and the five-year old mare FLY BY NIGHT gets the nod. The Mike Bass trained daughter of Jet Master blossomed during her KZN stint last winter and she has continued that form in her home city. She was baulked for a bit when staying on for a close 3rd behind CAPTAIN OF ALL in the recent Grade 2 Diadem Stakes over six furlongs. She has a smart burst of speed as she displayed when beating the fast three-year old ALBORAN SEA (0.5kg worse off) going away over this c & d in her penultimate start.
