Race 4: TAKING CHANCES(13)
Magic Tips Best Bets
Jockey: Sean CORMACK - Trainer: Dennis DRIER
The Dennis Drier yard has a trio of entrants in this maiden contest and the stable elect SEA FEVER has strong claims, on the back of his promising c & d debut in early December. The son of Argonaut was quietly fancied in the betting market when he ran on nicely for a close 3rd, eight weeks ago. That form hasn't amounted to much but the yard's horses often make considerable improvement with experience and the chestnut gelding will have lots of natural improvement to come.
Race 3: ENTREE(2)
Jockey: Stuart RANDOLPH - Trainer: Duncan HOWELLS
ENTREE is effective on both surfaces and though he has shown promise to date, he has been costly to follow. However, he represents some strong formlines and reverting to this testing six furlongs could be exactly what the Right Approach gelding requires. He represents a red-hot combination and can get it right.
Race 4: DE NIMES(7)
Jockey: Anthony DELPECH - Trainer: Sean TARRY
DE NIMES has found betting support in both her starts and she made the expected improvement second time out. She set the pace before tiring late into 3rd against male rivals on the polytrack last time and should continue to improve. The daughter of Fort Beluga is back against her own sex.
Race 7: ROC 'N ROSE(11) - TOP BET
Jockey: Muzi YENI - Trainer: Duncan HOWELLS
ROC 'N ROSE is a smart staying filly whose last victory came with Yeni up in a listed feature over this distance. She has improved in her last two runs and was outrun late into 3rd behind her stable companion BEEWITHMEE over this trip, four weeks ago. The five-year old Toreador mare now meets her conqueror on a whopping 6kgs better terms for that 1.75 length beating and she reunites with Yeni. She has a decent record on this inside course and represents very good value. She is best in on official ratings.
Jockey: Wesley MARWING - Trainer: Yogas GOVENDER
ARGO'S JET has improved his formline in recent outings and his solitary victory came on this course. He has some issues but benefitted from his latest break and now has his third run after the layoff. He was handed a three pound penalty for that improved last effort but still has more to offer and he must be respected. Interestingly, his conditioner has opted to acquire the services of Gauteng based apprentice Wesley Marwing.
