Magic Tips Best Bets
Jockey: Piere STRYDOM - Trainer: Erico VERDONESE
DIESEL JET is improving with each run and he fought hard when going down a neck over a mile on this course, ten days ago. The son of Jet Master has finally cracked a decent draw and his pedigree suggests that he will handle the extra furlong. Piere Strydom gets the ride.
Race 2: CAPTAINOFMYHEART(12) - TOP BET
Jockey: Gavin LERENA - Trainer: Geoff WOODRUFF
CAPTAINOFMYHEART was a longshot on debut but showed good pace and produced a fair effort over the 1160m on the standside track. He was beaten just under three lengths behind subsequent winner Mac De Lago and has obvious scope for improvement. He should relish today's extra distance and can stake a serious claim from his good draw.
Race 3: DANGEROUS DIVA(10)
Jockey: Piere STRYDOM - Trainer: Lucky HOUDALAKIS
This is a competitive maiden contest but DANGEROUS DIVA has the credentials and her good draw makes her a lively contender. She stayed on strongly for 2nd over seven furlongs on the standside course recently and should continue to improve. The daughter of Jet Master should relish the extra furlong on her pedigree.
Race 6: KILLUA CASTLE(1)
Jockey: Akash AUCHARUZ - Trainer: Geoff WOODRUFF
KILLUA CASTLE should have won the Summer Cup last time but wasn't given the strongest ride in the closing stages by his inexperienced jockey. Of course, his brilliant stablemate Louis The King nabbed him close to home that day. Nevertheless, the Churchill Downs gelding finished almost three lengths clear of the 3rd placed finisher JUDICIAL (1.5kgs worse off) that day and he drops heavily in class now. It comes as a surprise that his conditioner sticks with the apprentice but the five-year old gelding is weighted to go very close today. He shed his maiden tag on this inside course on debut.
Jockey: Derreck DAVID - Trainer: Alec LAIRD
WHAT A BOYTJIE had excuses for his poor last effort but had some decent form before that. He ran on well for 3rd behind Trip To Rio over this c & d three runs back and will be competitive from his pole position barrier.
