Race 2: COSMIC CODE(1)
Jockey: Karl NEISIUS - Trainer: Shane HUMBY

COSMIC CODE is improving with each run and he tried hard when runner-up over six furlongs at Kenilworth, recently. He hung in the closing stages that day and his conditioner has quickly resorted to equipping the colt with blinkers, which could make all the difference. The son of Seventh Rock is well drawn on his first venture around the turn and it is really encouraging that Karl Neisius retains the ride.

Jockey: Richard FOURIE - Trainer: Glen KOTZEN

WAR DECLARATION produced two decent sprints recently and he has more to come. He did well in two previous attempts on this track and is much better than his one run over the mile. The son of Dynasty didn't seem to enjoy the turn at Kenilworth that day and he will be a totally different proposition. He will again be partnered by Richard Fourie and should go close in an ordinary line-up. He has enough early speed to overcome his slightly awkward draw.

Race 5: OVIDIO(1)
Jockey: Richard FOURIE - Trainer: Justin SNAITH

OVIDIO is a lightly raced four-year old imported gelding who is improving with racing. He took just five runs to shed his maiden tag, beating a subsequent winner in the process over nine furlongs at Kenilworth. His two post maiden runs have been solid and he caught the eye when finishing strongly for a close 3rd behind a talented sort over this trip, two weeks ago. The son of Danehill Dancer usually leaves himself with plenty to do in the home straight so the fitting of blinkers could be perfect for him today. The Snaith inmate should continue to improve and he should take a power of beating. He still appears ahead of the handicapper.

Jockey: Andrew FORTUNE - Trainer: Mike STEWART

Only seven runners go to post for this competitive handicap but having the run of the race often suits the frontrunning, gutsy six-year old gelding, SURRUPTITIOUS. The Mike Stewart trained bay continues to be his ultra-consistent self and he tried hard when beaten one length into 2nd by a progressive type over nine furlongs, last time out. He has no issues with this extra furlong and has useful form on this track. Still, he will receive stiff competition from the other contenders.

Race 7: IMPRESSIONIST(6) (Each Way)
Jockey: Brandon MAY - Trainer: Ronnie SHEEHAN

This is a very tricky low-key affair and an upset should be expected. IMPRESSIONIST has a good record on this course and could cause the major stir with his 4kgs claiming apprentice aboard. The son of Tiger Ridge clearly benefitted from the break as he showed signs of a form return with a smart sprint, two weeks ago. He will strip fitter now and was surprisingly docked two pounds in his rating. The Piet Steyn inmate shed his maiden tag over this c & d and is a lively threat. The only worry is his wide draw.
