Magic Tips Best Bets

Race 4: LATINO'S JET(2)
Jockey: Muzi YENI - Trainer: Tienie PRINSLOO

LATINO'S JET has shown promise but after some theatrics, his conditioner has had little option but to geld the son of Latino Magic. That could make a real difference as he gave his riders a torrid time. The chestnut gelding is ideally c & d suited and could make serious improvement, if the operation was successful. His wide draw isn't a major issue as he seems to prefer running at his rivals.

Race 5: GO DUTCH(5)
Jockey: Deon SAMPSON - Trainer: Lucky HOUDALAKIS

GO DUTCH has faced much stronger on the Highveld and she showed signs of a form return when making late progress for 5th over six furlongs on the Vaal sand, two weeks ago. The daughter of Judpot is better over this extra furlong and she should be competitive in this line-up. The obvious worry is how she will handle this surface.

Jockey: Gunter WROGEMANN - Trainer: Ormond FERRARIS

The Gauteng visitor CAPTAIN HADDOCK has done very well on the Vaal sand he brings solid form into this non-black type event. He is well handicapped and is suited to this trip. The Ormond Ferraris trained Spectrum gelding has a good draw and he can stake a serious claim on his local debut.

Race 7: ARROW RUN(4) - TOP BET
Jockey: Marco V/RENSBURG - Trainer: Cliffie MILLER

ARROW RUN has done well since shedding his maiden tag and he produced a quality last display in strong company over this c & d. He stayed on strongly for a close 3rd to DECKIE BOY and now meets that rival on 0.5kg better terms for that 1.25 lengths beating. That weight reversal doesn't seem enough to change the form but the three-year old definitely has more to offer and he can defy the five pound penalty.

Race 9: FOREST FLYER(5) (Each Way)
Jockey: Collen STOREY - Trainer: Coerie LENSLEY

This is a low-key affair but the real value could be with FOREST FLYER from the Lensley yard. This son of Woodborough didn't stay seven furlongs last time but produced a good penultimate run over this c & d, despite racing wide from a poor draw. He will be a completely different proposition from his good draw now and should go very close in this field.
