Race 6: PROVERB(5)

Magic Tips Best Bets

Jockey: Anton MARCUS - Trainer: Wendy WHITEHEAD

DESTINED FOR DAWN has produced some of his memorable performances on this surface and he gets the nod in this opening event. The Lion Tamer gelding finished strongly for a head 2nd over this c & d last time and now has his third run after the layoff. Admittedly, he is a limited sort but gets the 'champ' Anton Marcus in the irons and deserves to shed his maiden tag. His good draw is a major plus.

Jockey: Anton MARCUS - Trainer: Charles LAIRD

There are some above-average three-year olds in this handicap and despite their hefty masses, they could still dominate the finish. THIRTYTWO SQUADRON was poor on the grass in his comeback run but showed top ability with back-to-back wins on this surface, prior to his ten week absence. He shoulder- ed a big mass but displayed all of his determination and courage to hold off some hard-knocking handicappers en route to a neck victory over 1900m in his penultimate outing. The son of A P Arrow will be fitter and merits healthy respect despite another major mass.

Race 7: SOARING JET(1)
Jockey: Anthony DELPECH - Trainer: Mike DE KOCK

The three-year olds once again shoulder hefty masses in this low-key fillies and mares handicap but they have plenty of scope and could fight out the finish. SOARING JET has progressed nicely with experience and she drew off to record an impressive maiden victory over a mile on this track in November. She hasn't been seen for 15 weeks since which is always a concern but the daughter of Jet Master has lots of scope for improvement. She makes her handicap debut with a big mass but doesn't meet a strong field and must be respected.

Jockey: Anthony DELPECH - Trainer: Craig EUDEY

This is an intriguing final event and FINDING NEVERLAND should have lots of supporters, owing to her solid recent form over a mile on this track. She was outrun late last time but has cracked a good draw tonight and that could make all the difference. The six-year old mare will relish the likely blisteri- ng pace and she should go close with Delpech back in the irons.

Race 3: CAPTAINS CUP(9) (Each Way)
Jockey: Anthony DELPECH - Trainer: Mike DE KOCK

This is an interesting low-key handicap and the big masses could severely hamper the chances of the three-year olds despite their obvious room for improvement. The lightly raced expensive four-year old CAPTAIN'S CUP tired late on his track debut over seven furlongs in a stronger field last time but this drop in trip could be ideal for the son of Captain Al. He is once again unlucky with a wide draw but has the necessary gate speed and has room for improvement. There aren't many speedy types in this event & that could allow the Mike de Kock trained gelding to get over from his wide draw and enjoy the run of the race.
