Magic Tips Best Bets

Race 1: ENFORCE(8)
Jockey: Donovan DILLON - Trainer: Garth PULLER

ENFORCE has two useful attempts on the turf and she appears progressive. The full-brother to Mister Cricket stayed on nicely for 2nd at Scottsville last time out and could relish racing on this polytra- ck for the first time. He is well drawn at gate 3 and merits healthy respect.

Jockey: Tristan GODDEN - Trainer: Kumaran NAIDOO

The eight-year old gelding, ROYAL ZULU WARRIOR has lost his way in recent seasons but he has been consistently racing in feature company. He has always been a quality sprinter and has some fair recent sprint form after returning from yet another layoff. His conditioner has found the perfect race for him to be competitive and the Mossman gelding continues to drop in the ratings. Furthermore, his trainer has cleverly engaged a 4kgs claiming apprentice. The Australian import had one poor polytrack run but that was over a mile and he should be very competitive in this line-up from his pole position barrier.

Jockey: Athandiwe MGUDLWA - Trainer: Mark DIXON

None of the 9 raced runners in this field of 11 have placed before and that makes for a very tricky affair. The first instinct would be to side with the two well-bred newcomers but KIRR ROYALE is expec- ted to make experience count and produce her career best effort. The Mark Dixon inmate may not have placed in her four runs but she has shown some fair form and was beaten just over three lengths into 5th over this c & d on her debut, last October. Her last two turf runs have also been fair and she certainly has room for improvement. The daughter of King Of Kings will be aided by pole position and she represents an in-form yard.

Jockey: Anthony DELPECH - Trainer: Robbie HILL

COUNT ZAFONIC has only been effective on the polytrack thus far but he wasn't given the best of rides on the grass in his penultimate outing and is much better than that. He showed his capability with a solid last effort over ten furlongs on the polytrack and looks set to transfer that form to the turf today. The well-related son of Count Dubois has good scope for improvement and he could still develop into a fair stayer. He will be aided by pole position and Anthony Delpech and should go close. The extra distance should be right up his alley.

Race 4: INDIAN CONNECTION(10) (Each Way)
Jockey: Mandla NTULI - Trainer: Michael ROBERTS

INDIAN CONNECTION held his form well before his twelve week break and he has proven himself on this surface. The seven-year old gelding has been competing with success over further but he races fresh and jumps from a handy draw. He will be competitive with just 53kgs on his back.
