Magic Tips Best Bets

Race 1: GALAXY KING(4)
Jockey: Fareed ANTHONY - Trainer: Ronnie SHEEHAN

An intriguing opening maiden juvenile contest that features seven unraced runners out of the field of ten. GALAXY KING will make experience count and the son of Rebel King went off at long odds when he produced a smart debut over 800m on this track, six weeks ago. He challenged ERNIE (3rd in feature since) strongly before finishing runner-up, beaten one length by his conqueror that day. He would have strengthened during the break and should have natural improvement to come.

Race 2: BOBBY JAMES(2)
Jockey: Bernard FAYD'HERBE - Trainer: Justin SNAITH

BOBBY JAMES is at his best over this c & d and he showed encouraging signs in his last two comeback runs. The son of Fort Wood ran on nicely for a close 4th in a strong field when he may have just need- ed the run and he will be cherry-ripe on his third run after the layoff. The Snaith inmate is overdue his next career win.

Race 3: SAINT DONAN(1)
Jockey: Andrew FORTUNE - Trainer: Dolf MAEDER

SAINT DONAN is above-average and deserves his first career win. His decent 4th to subsequent dual winner Triptique stands out in his formline and the son of Kildonan should go very close with Andrew Fortune in the irons.

Jockey: Richard FOURIE - Trainer: Greg ENNION

This is another intriguing affair and the formbook looks set for a reversal. The top selection NATURAL BLONDE has shown ability and she was drawn wide but still ran on nicely for 2nd, beaten half a length over nine furlongs on this track last Saturday. She was easily beaten by NATATELA behind Casadesus over seven furlongs in her below-par penultimate effort but did have an awkward start that day and never got into the contest. The daughter of Surging River will be an entirely different proposition this time around and the mile should suit her perfectly. Furthermore, she is drawn well at gate 3 and Fourie retains the ride for her in-form yard. She should take a power of beating.

Race 7: MY PRECIOUS(4) (Each Way)
Jockey: Aldo DOMEYER - Trainer: Yogas GOVENDER

Just eight fillies and mares go to post for this low-key handicap but things should be very tricky. The Yogas Govender yard is gradually coming to form and their charge MY PRECIOUS is often involved in the finish and she enjoys this trip. She went close to HOPEITSAPRIZE over this c & d in her penultima- te run and then ran on strongly for 3rd from a bad draw, five weeks ago. She meets the latter on 1kg better terms and is a major contender in this field.
