Race 2: SMART CALL(5)
Jockey: Weichong MARWING - Trainer: Alec LAIRD

SMART CALL has blossomed with racing and she would have strengthened during her nine week break. The daughter of Ideal World is preparing for the upcoming Fillies Guineas but her conditioner has found the perfect race for her to achieve her second career win. She finished a creditable 3rd behind subse- quent Grade 1 winner Majmu over seven furlongs in her penultimate run and was outrun late in another feature over this trip, four weeks later. She is extremely well treated by the weights and had two promising attempts on this inside course. The Alec Laird inmate should take a power of beating.

Jockey: Piere STRYDOM - Trainer: Gavin VAN ZYL

DOWN UNDER is an above-average sort and after three consecutive seconds, his conditioner has resorted to gelding the son of Fort Wood. He is c & d suited and the form of his last start has worked out well. The Gavin van Zyl inmate has already shown that he has the early speed to overcome his wide draw and he should take a power of beating.

Jockey: Gavin LERENA - Trainer: Geoff WOODRUFF

The Woodruff stable holds a strong hand in this listed contest and can complete the trifecta. The Western Winter gelding was highly regarded from day one but he is only realizing his true potential since going over ground. The four-year old is in the form of his life and he smashed some decent sorts over this c & d under a big mass, three weeks ago. That earned him the maximum eight pound penalty but he is still improving and has lots more to offer. He rates as the one to beat.

Race 7: LAZER STAR(1)
Jockey: Weichong MARWING - Trainer: Ormond FERRARIS

The unbeaten LAZER STAR places her record on the line as she ventures around the turn & beyond sprints for the first time. The speedy daughter of Toreador has been impressive in all four of her victories and she has a bright future. She will be severely tested with her big mass but still has the class to overcome all the odds. She will be aided by a fair draw.

Race 4: ROSALIE(3) (Each Way)
Jockey: Keagan DE MELO - Trainer: Gavin VAN ZYL

The Van Zyl yard could again come to the fore here and ROSALIE gets the first verdict. This daughter of Brave Tin Soldier is lightly raced and she benefitted from her recent break. She ran on smartly for 2nd over this distance in her comeback run and has room for further improvement. She will be aided by pole position on her track debut and should strip fitter.
