Race 7: LIMBO(7)

Magic Tips Best Bets

Jockey: Donavan MANSOUR - Trainer: Johan Janse v/Vuuren

The Brigtnumberfour formline on 27/01 should stand up tall in this opening event and ROCK OF BELINDA is a confident first selection. She produced a promising debut over six furlongs on this track and followed that up with a smart comeback run in the contest referred to above. The daughter of Seventh Rock was slightly slow into stride but she challenged the winner strongly in the closing stages and was beaten just three parts of a length at the line. She will strip fitter now and has lots more improvement to come.

Jockey: Donavan MANSOUR - Trainer: Gavin VAN ZYL

CASSIE O'MALLEY has shown decent ability and she has improved her formline in her last two Highveld runs. She ran on late from a poor draw in a strong field last time and that formline could be worth following. Her yard is in form in Gauteng and she could be much better than rated. The daughter of Jet Master, just like the rest of her rivals has work to do at the weights with FIRE WHEEL but she has proven fitness on her side and can still stake a serious claim. She should have no issues with this drop in trip.

Jockey: Gavin LERENA - Trainer: Mike DE KOCK

MODERN MUSE is a top quality filly that should develop into a classy stayer. Her form is solid and she almost defied her hefty mass when going close in yielding conditions over this trip, four weeks ago. She takes on stronger but has a more manageable mass this time around and should go very close once again.

Race 6: DIESEL JET(4)
Jockey: Piere STRYDOM - Trainer: Erico VERDONESE

DIESEL JET is an improving three-year old with plenty of scope and he should stay well. He is unbeaten with Strydom up and was an impressive winner of his post maiden run, three weeks ago. The Jet Master colt drew off to record a comfortable win over nine furlongs that day and could still be ahead of the handicapper, despite his recent five pound penalty. He takes on stronger opposition now but is drawn in pole and can reel off the hat-trick.

Race 3: THE GOLDEN BOY(8) (Each Way)
Jockey: Craig ZACKEY - Trainer: Chris ERASMUS

THE GOLDEN BOY is a proven stayer and he continues to knock hard at the door for that first career win. He has ultra-consistent form and meets the likely favourite FRIKKIE on 3kgs better terms for a three parts of a length beating on the run behind Elusive Flyer over 2600m, three runs back. The son of A P Arrow should give a very good account of himself. The latter is an improving three-year old with plenty of scope. He was suited to blinkers last time and this extra distance will suit him well. He merits healthy respect despite the weight turnaround.
