Race 3: SHEA DEVON(13)
Jockey: Gavin LERENA - Trainer: Geoff WOODRUFF

This is a moderate maiden event and caution is advised. The improver could be the Geoff Woodruff trained Australian import, SHEA DEVON with in-form jockey Gavin Lerena in the irons. This son of High Chaparral found some outside betting support on his moderate debut over six furlongs at this venue but his pedigree suggests that he is searching for further. He would have benefitted from that experience and there could be natural improvement to come.

Jockey: Donavan MANSOUR - Trainer: Alec LAIRD

DOLLAR DAZZLER is a smart sort who still has lots of room for improvement. He has some niggles though, but put all that behind him when emphatically winning his latest outing in yielding conditions over the minimum trip at Turffontein, five weeks ago. The Var gelding is best in on official ratings in this graduation contest and he has strong claims of following up. The three-year olds are the main danger but they have their work cut-out for them at the weights.

Jockey: Chase MAUJEAN - Trainer: Lucky HOUDALAKIS

This is another very competitive handicap that features many of the usual suspects. VICTORY CRUISE was poor in his last two starts but those were at a much higher level and he drops heavily in class today. His smart turn of foot has helped him greatly on the Highveld and he drew off to easily beat a similar line-up over this c & d, three starts ago. He represents good each/way value and regular pilot Maujean retains the ride.

Race 9: TEMPEST(12)
Jockey: Craig ZACKEY - Trainer: Sean TARRY

TEMPEST benefitted from the short break and she made decent improvement in her comeback sprint, two weeks ago. She raced in a competitive line-up that evening at Turffontein and despite hanging in the closing stages, the daughter of Captain Al finished well for 4th. She will strip much fitter now and this extra furlong will be right up her alley. She should give a very good account of herself.

Race 2: TEARAWAY(12) (Each Way)
Jockey: Sherman BROWN - Trainer: Leon ERASMUS

With 10 of the 15 juveniles on display being unraced, this contest could be very tricky and the betting market will be a good indicator. However, the experience could make a big difference and TEAR- AWAY has had two starts to date. He had excuses for his poor debut at Flamingo Park but showed decent improvement when returning to the Highveld, four weeks ago. The son of Miesque's Approval had an awkward start but he made late progress to be beaten just over five lengths in yielding conditions over the minimum trip.
