Race 6: CHARLES LYTTON(1)

Magic Tips Best Bets

Race 1: THE CAPTAIN'S CAT(15)
Jockey: Raymond DANIELSON - Trainer: Tara LAING

THE CAPTAIN'S CAT was fancied in the betting market when he made a promising debut over this c & d, four weeks ago. He showed lots of speed before being outrun late into 2nd behind Tom Strong (runner-up next time out) on that occasion and will make that experience count. The well-related son of Captain Al has bright claims of going one better for his in-form yard.

Race 3: DANCE AND DESTROY(1)
Jockey: Raymond DANIELSON - Trainer: Tara LAING

DANCE AND DESTROY was a little disappointing on his local debut at this venue over seven furlongs last Friday but may have needed that first PE experience. He has already shown what he is capable of on the Highveld and will build on that last start. He doesn't take on the strongest opposition and merits healthy respect.

Race 6: CHARLES LYTTON(1) - TOP BET
Jockey: Richard FOURIE - Trainer: Justin SNAITH

The Cape raider CHARLES LYTTON is clearly above-average and he made light work of his field when winning a local feature over this c & d, four weeks ago. The victory margin clearly flatters the runner-up and this son of Thomas Crown has this contest at his mercy. Hardly surprisingly, he is best in on official ratings and will take some beating.

Race 8: AL DON CUMARCO(2)
Jockey: Gift FUNEKA - Trainer: Yvette BREMNER

AL DON CUMARCO is an above-average sort who could excel in this province. He started his local career with a bang as he ran on smartly to beat the useful three-year old CLIFTON SURF by just over one length over this c & d, three weeks ago. There was plenty of merit in that victory as he overcame a slow start so even the maximum six pound penalty may not hamper his chances of following up. The son of Captain Al has lots more to offer in this province and he should go close again.

VALUE BET FOR TODAY:

Race 5: BISHOP'S CHOICE(4) (Each Way)
Jockey: Kersley RAMSAMY - Trainer: Hekkie STRYDOM

BISHOP'S CHOICE has shown some encouraging signs since trying marathon trips and he is threatening his next career victory. He has only won up to a mile but produced a cracking effort over 2700m at condit- ions level behind a quality stayer on this track, late last year. His subsequent form has been fair and although well beaten, he finished a creditable 4th at conditions level over this c & d, last time out. The son of Mellifont is very well treated on today's handicap terms and just for good measure, his conditioner has engaged a 4kgs claiming apprentice. The bay gelding represents great each/way value in this field.
