Race 9: ON THIS ROCK(11)

Magic Tips Best Bets

Jockey: Muzi YENI - Trainer: Tienie PRINSLOO

LATINO'S JET is an improving sort who could yet turn into something decent. He may have had enough chances to shed his maiden tag but he has come well since being gelded. The son of Latino Magic ran on well for 2nd behind a Gauteng raider over seven furlongs last time and a repeat of that effort over the mile today could see him rewarded for some consistency. He jumps from a good draw and Muzi Yeni partners him once again.

Race 6: ALL THE BIDS(1)
Jockey: Fanie CHAMBERS - Trainer: Corne SPIES

ALL THE BIDS had too much to do at the weights in a Highveld sand handicap feature last Tuesday. He is usually an excellent sand perfomer though and his local record speaks for itself. The three-year old Daring Bid gelding thrashed many of today's rivals in a similar event over a mile in his penultimate run and he takes his racing extremely well. He is once again best in on official ratings and will take some beating from a much better draw today. The drop in distance is no issue for the Spies inmate.

Race 7: KINGSLEY(7)
Jockey: Hennie GREYLING - Trainer: Dorrie SHAM

KINGSLEY enjoyed racing without blinkers as he made huge improvement to record an emphatic start to finish victory over this c & d, two weeks ago. He beat the consistent NIEBELUNG by almost eight lengths at the line and should still hold that form despite being 3.5kgs worse off with the latter after his eight pound hike. The son of Var will have little issues with the rise in class and he can follow-up from pole position. The latter will again be ridden by Khumalo but still has work to do despite the weight turnaround. He can complete the exacta once more.

Jockey: S'manga KHUMALO - Trainer: Louis GOOSEN

READ MY GESTURE is a very speedy Gauteng raider who has shown a distinct liking for the Vaal sand. He competed against stronger in his penultimate run and will be cherry-ripe on his third run after the layoff. He is well drawn on his local debut and interestingly Khumalo retains the ride after partneri- ng him on the Highveld, three weeks ago. The son of National Emblem is well handicapped in this low key affair and should go very close.

Race 9: WIND AT YOUR BACK(12) (Each Way)
Jockey: Tshwaro APPIE - Trainer: Jaap VISSER

There are some smart local sprinters on display in this competitive handicap and a thrilling finish is expected. WIND AT YOUR BACK hasn't raced for 24 weeks since his poor last display and interestingly, he has changed stables since. The son of Windrush has proven his ability against much stronger and he loves this c & d. He is extremely well handicapped on his comeback run and his new conditioner knows exactly how to bring them back fit and ready. He will relish the likely blistering early speed and should be picking off his rivals in the closing stages. The six-year old gelding represents good each/ way value in this contest.
