Race 8: SEBUENG(11)

Magic Tips Best Bets

Jockey: Alec FORBES - Trainer: Alistair GORDON

ROY'S GUARDIAN has shown promise with two decent efforts over further on the turf at Scottsville. She showed pace in both those runs and today's drop to the minimum trip could be ideal for the daughter of Rebel King. Her speed will assist her on this fast track and she will be aided by a good barrier position. She should go very well in this field.

Race 4: RAAEES(1)
Jockey: Anthony DELPECH - Trainer: Mike DE KOCK

RAAEES is often his own worst enemy as he loses ground at the start. However, he stays well and has shown good ability. He lacked a strong finish when beaten three lengths by DOUBLE CLUTCH over this c & d two weeks ago but now meets his conqueror on 3kgs better terms. The pair drop in class after that minor feature contest and the top selection is weighted to turn the tables.

Race 5: TOLD YOU SO(2)
Jockey: Athandiwe MGUDLWA - Trainer: Alyson WRIGHT

This is a low-key handicap over ten furlongs and without a natural pacesetter things could get really tricky. However, the top selection TOLD YOU SO races fresh after a 14 week break and a likely sedate gallop will play right into his hands. The former Cape inmate had useful KZN form prior to that layoff and he is suited to this surface. In fact, he finished well for 2nd behind today's likely favourite DISCOURSE over 1900m on this track in his penultimate start. He now meets his conqueror on 1.5kgs better terms but gets a more experienced jockey and that could make all the difference.

Jockey: Anton MARCUS - Trainer: Belinda IMPEY

KEPT SECRET has turned her career around since trying the polytrack and she is overdue her next victory. The daughter of King Of Kings seems best over the minimum trip but she produced a pleasing recent effort over six furlongs on the grass and Anton Marcus takes the ride from a good draw. The bay filly has plenty in her favour and she is expected to secure that deserved second career win.

Race 6: PILGOVAN STAR(9) (Each Way)
Jockey: Keagan DE MELO - Trainer: Michael ROBERTS

The lightweights could dominate the outcome of this low-key affair and PILGOVAN STAR gets the nod with Keagan de Melo in the irons. The five-year old gelding took a while to shed his maiden tag over this c & d but his two post maiden efforts have been fair. He made late progress in his fair comeback run behind HAMELIN BAY over 1900m two weeks ago and he now faces that rival on 2.5kgs better terms. He was dropped two pounds after that performance and the Silvano gelding will strip fitter. He is a lively threat.
