Race 8: BOSTON CELTIC(6)
Magic Tips Best Bets
Jockey: Karl NEISIUS - Trainer: Vaughan MARSHALL
ANNIGONI has benefitted from the rest and gelding and he bounced back to his best with two solid comeback efforts, recently. The Silvano gelding was drawn badly but still finished strongly for a close 2nd over this c & d, four weeks ago. He will be cherry-ripe on his third run after the layoff and Karl Neisius keeps the ride. Needless to say, the Marshall inmate is the one to beat from his much better draw today.
Race 5: WHAT A MISSION(1) - TOP BET
Jockey: Bernard FAYD'HERBE - Trainer: Joey RAMSDEN
The injury plagued but classy WHAT A MISSION is less effective over ten furlongs which explains his fair last run but he will be completely at home over this distance. The imported five-year old gelding proved his well-being with two excellent comeback performances after his huge absence and he still seems ahead of the handicapper. He is drawn in pole and should stake a serious claim despite another big mass at handicap level. The Ramsden inmate holds a solid c & d record.
Race 6: WINTER TRADE(2)
Jockey: Andrew FORTUNE - Trainer: Darryl HODGSON
All but one of the three-year olds on display in this handicap concede weight to the sole four-year old in this event. However, the joint top-weighted younger sorts are above-average and could defy the mass and dominate the finish. WINTER TRADE has always been highly rated and he is holding his form very well. He produced two solid post maiden efforts over this c & d and in fact, easily beat the four year old MUSKETS 'N ROSES in his penultimate outing. The son of Western Winter is now 5kgs worse off with his older counterpart for a 2.50 length beating on the I Am The Law run but still has more scope for improvement and should confirm the form.
Race 7: TIGER TIGER(2)
Jockey: Devin ASHBY - Trainer: Paul REEVES
Only eight runners go to post for the day's topliner and with some quality sorts in the line-up, an exciting finish is on the cards. The top selection goes to the hard-knocking and versatile TIGER TIGER from the Paul Reeves yard. This son of Tiger Dance continues to make his connections and he finished well for a close 4th at pinnacle level over this c & d, four weeks ago. The 3rd placed runner did the form little favour when finishing unplaced next time out but this five-year old gelding drops in class and can defy the odds.
Jockey: Grant V/NIEKERK - Trainer: Mike BASS
A TIME TO KILL showed no signs of finding the mile too sharp for him as he drew off to record an easy last win at this level under a good ride from the stable jockey. He was penalized four pounds but is even better over this extra furlong and he jumps from pole position. The Mike Bass inmate should go very close once again.
