Race 1: SKYRESS(8)
Race 4: CAPTAIN OF ALL(1)
Race 6: NOMVULA(6)
Race 8: MISS NIGHTINGALE(2)

Magic Tips Best Bets

Race 3: SKRIK VIR NIKS(2)
Jockey: Sean VEALE - Trainer: Paul GADSBY

SKRIK VIR NIKS has shown useful ability on both surfaces and he gets the nod in this competitive event He was caught late after racing with a slipped saddle last time but has room for more improvement and can make amends.

Race 4: CAPTAIN OF ALL(1) - TOP BET
Jockey: Sean CORMACK - Trainer: Dennis DRIER

The brilliant sprinter CAPTAIN OF ALL is clearly back to his level-best after returning from a lengthy spell on the sidelines. The imposing son of Captain Al showed his true potential with excellent back to back performances in the Cape during the summer. He fought on well to win a feature over six furlongs in his penultimate run and then produced a strong finish, only to be denied victory by a short head in a subsequent Grade 1 over this distance. The Drier inmate is handsomely best in on official ratings today and he could be set for big things during the KZN winter. He won't be fully wound-up here but should still be extremely tough to beat. He won a Grade 1 on this course as a juvenile.

Race 6: BEAT THE RETREAT(1)
Jockey: Alec FORBES - Trainer: Alistair GORDON

BEAT THE RETREAT landed the betting coup when he cruised to his impressive debut victory over this c & d, twelve weeks ago. That form hasn't amounted to much but the son of Argonaut looks way above average and would have strengthened during the break. He should take a power of beating here.

Race 8: ROYAL PLEASURE(3)
Jockey: Greg CHEYNE - Trainer: Glen KOTZEN

ROYAL PLEASURE landed a huge betting coup with a pulsating c & d debut victory, ten weeks ago. The speedy daughter of Visionaire eased up to win by almost seven lengths that day and naturally, she has lots of scope for improvement. She takes on stronger here but her conditioner has flown the stable jockey in from Cape Town and that means serious business. She has strong claims of following up.

VALUE BET FOR TODAY:

Race 7: CLEAR SAILING(10) (Each Way)
Jockey: Sean VEALE - Trainer: Mike MILLER

CLEAR SAILING is ultra-consistent and she stayed on for a decent 3rd in a Highveld feature over this trip at Turffontein, three weeks ago. The obvious worry is whether she has recovered from the journey but the daughter of Argonaut is still a big contender here. That said, she has some work to do at the weights.
