Winning Form Best Bets

Race 9: DISCO BOY(13)

Magic Tips Best Bets

Jockey: S'manga KHUMALO - Trainer: Gavin VAN ZYL

RESPECTABLE RULER is an above-average type who is yet to draw favourably but he could still stake another serious claim here. The son of Dynasty has shown lots of promise and he was nabbed late by two decent sorts in back-to-back runs over a mile on this track, prior to a 19 week break. He was in need of his comeback effort at the Vaal recently but will be much fitter today and is bred to love this extra furlong. His yard is in good form and the top selection will go close with Khumalo in the irons.

Race 6: EVA TIBBS(3)
Jockey: S'manga KHUMALO - Trainer: Sean TARRY

EVA TIBBS is in good form and she is bred to relish this rise in distance. The daughter of Casey Tibbs was outrun late by a quality sort over ten furlongs last time but this shorter run-in will suit her better and Khumalo knows her extremely well. The three-year olds could provide stiff competition for the top selection and THE CENTENARY and KISSIMMEE have proven their staying ability. The former was in need of her comeback run and she showed lots of class before her poor penultimate display. She will be fitter today and is a threat with her handy galloping mass of 53.5kgs.

Jockey: S'manga KHUMALO - Trainer: Mike DE KOCK

DASHING SCARLET has regained some of her better form and she was an impressive winner over 1450m at the Vaal, recently. She takes a steep rise in class now but still has more to offer and she is ideally c & d suited. The grey daughter of Western Winter is drawn in pole position and she merits healthy respect.

Race 9: WILL PAYS(2)
Jockey: Donavan MANSOUR - Trainer: Johan Janse v/Vuuren

WILL PAYS and MAGIC TRIP renew their rivalry but this time both rivals go beyond sprints for the first time in their short careers. The former produced a smart burst when he drew off to record an easy last win over 1160m and crucially has experience on this track. His pedgiree suggests that he will relish this extra distance and he has lots more to offer. The son of Imperial Stride was handed a hefty seven pound penalty but he is still ahead of the handicapper. His good draw is a major plus.

Race 5: AL FIRENZE(8) (Each Way)
Jockey: Donavan MANSOUR - Trainer: Johan Janse v/Vuuren

AL FIRENZE caused a major stir when he produced a strong finish to win a handicap on his comeback run over 1450m on this course, five weeks ago. He did things the hard way from his poor draw on that occasion and will strip much fitter now. The son of Tiger Ridge jumps from a good draw and will enjoy this extra distance. He is still lightly raced and has good scope for further improvement. The bay gelding has good claims of following up.
