Magic Tips Best Bets
Jockey: Gunter WROGEMANN - Trainer: Robbie SAGE
ULETIDE takes an eternity to get into her best stride and the inside track has found her out in recent times. Still, she runs on well in her races and today's switch to the standside course could make all the difference. The daughter of Ideal World has good improvement to come and she could develop into a decent stayer once she gains her confidence.
Race 5: MISS RAMBO(5)
Jockey: Jarryd PENNY - Trainer: Geoff WOODRUFF
MISS RAMBO is an improving stayer who loves this long run-in of the standside course. She usually runs on late in her races and did just that when 4th in a listed feature over 2200m on the inside track, three weeks ago. She finished exactly two lengths behind SANTA CAROLINA in that event but meets that rival on 1.5kgs better terms now and will be an entirely different proposition over this extra ground and on this track.
Race 6: MOGOK MASTER(2)
Jockey: Gunter WROGEMANN - Trainer: Paul PETER
These early juvenile features are very interesting & the raced runners don't always have things their own way. There are four newcomers in this field of nine entrants but the experience is expected to count. MOGOK MASTER is a fast sort who has shown promise in his two efforts over this c & d. He won a good contest on debut in yielding going and was only collared late by a classy first timer in his next start. He should continue to improve and is a major contender. Interestingly, he was beaten by a runner from the Gavin van Zyl yard and this stable has now entered another newcomer in the form of ISCA. Needless to say, the stable will have a good line to work with. S'manga Khumalo's mount is a grey son of Var and he receives a handy 3kgs from the top selection.
Race 9: DOING IT FOR DAN(3)
Jockey: Piere STRYDOM - Trainer: Louis GOOSEN
DOING IT FOR DAN had excuses but made late progress for a fair 5th in a feature over this c & d, four weeks ago. He is an ultra-consistent sort and runs extremely well for 'Striker'. The Windrush gelding should be very competitive in this field.
Jockey: MJ BYLEVELD - Trainer: Mike BASS
SPIRIT OF HAMILTON is above-average and he may have needed his first attempt on the Highveld. He moved up well in the feature that day but tired in the closing stages to finish just out of the money. The Argonaut gelding was just under two lengths adrift of 3rd placed finisher EASY LOVER but now meets that rival on 4.5kgs better terms. The Mike Bass inmate will be a totally different proposition today and he has no issues with the mile. Of course, the form of that last start was strongly franked in a Grade 2.
