Race 3: RED REX(8)
Race 5: BORDERED IN GREY(7)

Magic Tips Best Bets

Race 1: PRINCE OF THIEVES(7) - TOP BET
Jockey: Andrew FORTUNE - Trainer: Joey RAMSDEN

PRINCE OF THIEVES has shown plenty of promise in his three starts to date and he has lots more improv- ement to come. The Ramsden inmate has finished under one length adrift in all those performances and was more than four lengths clear of the 3rd placed finisher SCHACHAR over six furlongs in his penulti- mate start. The obvious concern is how he will handle the turn but the son of Rebel King should take some beating.

Race 2: MALACHITE SUNBIRD(6)
Jockey: Richard FOURIE - Trainer: Justin SNAITH

MALACHITE SUNBIRD quickly got back to form with a solid last effort over this trip at Kenilworth. She ran on strongly for 2nd, beaten half a length at the line and should continue to progress. The Snaith inmate has an awkward barrier to overcome on her track debut but she gets top pilot Fourie in the saddle and should go close.

Race 4: CANDALEEYAH(3)
Jockey: Andrew FORTUNE - Trainer: Shane HUMBY

This is another very tricky five furlong event and the likely suicidal pace could play into the hands of those who run on from off the speed. CANDALEEYAH falls into that category and she has shown promise to date. She just found six furlongs beyond reach when tiring late last time out but will love this drop in distance and has her third run after the layoff. Interestingly, her career best run came over this c & d and the daughter of Argonaut should be competitive with Andrew Fortune in the saddle.

Race 5: VALERIO(4)
Jockey: Xavier G CARSTENS - Trainer: Adam MARCUS

This is a very competitive handicap but the likely pacesetter VALERIO could make his low mass count and claim the first prize. The Adam Marcus inmate bounced back to form when only tiring late into 4th behind HENRY OF YORK over this trip at Kenilworth, three weeks ago. He is now 2.5kgs better off with his conqueror for that 1.60 lengths defeat but this shorter run-in will suit him better and he can cause the upset with similar tactics.

VALUE BET FOR TODAY:

Race 6: JAY JAY'S WILD(3) (Each Way)
Jockey: MJ BYLEVELD - Trainer: Vaughan MARSHALL

JAY JAY'S WILD is possibly best over this distance and is certainly better than his recent efforts. He has dropped slightly in the ratings since his last run and the blinkers could help him find his best form. The son of Jay Peg is well drawn at gate 2 and had one solid effort on this track. He should be competitive in this line-up.
