Race 2: KANARA(2)
Jockey: Xolane NDLOVU - Trainer: Alan GREEFF

The Greeff and Smith yards look set to clash again and once more jockey's Xolani Ndlovu and S'manga Khumalo could fight out the finish. KANARA found considerable betting support when she made a fair deb ut over six furlongs on this course, three weeks ago. The Alan Greeff inmate lacked a strong finish when beaten just over four lengths into 3rd at the wire but would have benefitted greatly from the experience and she is bred to love every bit of today's extra furlong. The daughter of Silvano is well drawn at barrier 3 and she should make natural improvement.

Race 3: PURE SPICE(5)
Jockey: S'manga KHUMALO - Trainer: Justin SNAITH

This is a very competitive maiden contest, featuring a few form runners that make their local debuts. PURE SPICE is one of those and the former KZN resident has shown decent ability over this distance to date. She was poor over twelve furlongs against male rivals last time but is much better suited to this trip and the Silver Honey run stands out in her formline. Of course, the third placed finisher of that contest was subsequent three-time winner Ahlaam. This daughter of Black Minnaloushe makes her local debut for the in-form Snaith yard and she should go close with S'manga Khumalo in the irons.

Race 4: UNBROKEN(5)
Jockey: Stallone NAIDOO - Trainer: Yvette BREMNER

This is another intriguing maiden event that features some form runners who make their local debuts. However, the benefit of one local run could make all the difference to UNBROKEN from the Bremner stable. This son of Mambo In Seattle was always going to find the minimum trip too sharp for him on his local debut but he made eye-catching late progress to finish just over three lengths adrift of the winner, last Friday. Interestingly, he found shrewd outside betting support on that occasion which suggests that he is showing decent work at his new yard. He will strip much fitter and is sure to love extra ground and beyond. The three-year old bay gelding will make pole position count and he merits healthy respect.

Jockey: Karl ZECHNER - Trainer: Tara LAING

The Tara Laing yard holds a very strong hand in this pinnacle stakes event but new recruit THE WEST IS WIDE could upstage the stable elect UNANNOUNCED. The former had always shown top ability whilst in the Cape and he is at his best over the six furlongs. He has campaigned against much stronger and ran on late to finish close-up in a pinnacle contest at Kenilworth last time out. The five-year old Western Winter gelding has won 3 features in his 6 career wins and he could have a bright local future.

Race 8: TURNSTONE(7) (Each Way)
Jockey: Karl ZECHNER - Trainer: Dorrie SHAM

This is a low-key handicap featuring a capacity field and two full-brother's could stake a serious claim, with the lesser fancied one getting the nod. TURNSTONE is plagued with issues but he has shown useful ability throughout his career. He failed to regain his best form during a spell in the Cape but met much stronger than he faces today and this is probably his best distance. The son of Silvano continues to plummet in the ratings and he is certainly capable of making a winning local debut at decent odds.
