Race 5: BUTOOL(9)
Jockey: Anthony DELPECH - Trainer: Mike DE KOCK

BUTOOL was fancied in the betting market when she produced an eye-catching debut performance over six furlongs on the grass, three weeks ago. She ran on nicely for a close 3rd, beaten just under one length that day and that experience would have brought her on considerably. The Mike de Kock inmate is bred to relish the rise in distance and she has plenty more to offer. The obvious concern is how she will cope with this surface.

Jockey: Sean CORMACK - Trainer: Dennis DRIER

AVARICIOUS is an above-average three-year old who has improved since being equipped with blinkers. He has a smart turn of foot and he displayed that when cruising to his maiden victory over this c & d, five weeks ago. He takes on much stronger on his handicap debut now but has lots more scope for improvement and is clearly better than his current rating. The Drier inmate should be very competitive in this field.

Race 7: SOLAR STAR(5)
Jockey: Anthony DELPECH - Trainer: Dean KANNEMEYER

There should be a solid gallop in the night's topliner and the top weighted runners will be severely tested. The Cape visitor SOLAR STAR will prefer the likely cracking gallop and he is well handicapped with 57kgs on his back. He was slightly disappointing last time but that form was franked and he has met some useful sorts along the way. The son of Kahal is drawn in pole position on his polytrack debut and is a definite contender. His conditioner's horses usually do well on this surface.

Jockey: Anthony DELPECH - Trainer: Garth PULLER

In-form jockey Anthony Delpech shed the maiden tag on TRIPLE O SEVEN last season and reunites with the daughter of Trippi tonight. The chestnut filly has had some fair performances since and had excuses for her poor last effort against male rivals over this c & d. She is back against her own sex here and ran on well for 2nd against stronger over six furlongs on this track in her penultimate outing. She represents an in-form yard who won the final event on last Friday's card and could repeat that feat here. Her good draw is a major plus.

Race 3: MOGOKITY(8) (Each Way)
Jockey: Nicholas PATEL - Trainer: Lezeanne FORBES

Some of the three-year olds shoulder big masses in this handicap and that could hamper their chances. However, the grey three-year old filly, MOGOKITY will benefit from a 4kgs apprentice allowance and she could be the right one with just 51.5kgs on her back. She is ideally c & d suited and ran on well for 4th on her handicap debut over a mile on this course, last time out. The daughter of Mogok has been rested for nine weeks since and has changed stables. The form of that last event was franked when the runner-up won next time out. This filly races fresh so the drop in trip is no issue and she can stake a serious claim from a handy draw.
